Billy!!!!! It's Denise & Chris from breakfast on Belize day, the couple from Orlando :) LOL. I thought this was you but when I read that description, I knew it .

Hi,

Did you recognize that I was talking about you?!?

We have found a company called Quest, Inc. in Orlando that specializes in placing special needs people in jobs and housing. We hope we can get Amy with them by January.

Hope you and Chris are doing well. We hated to come back!

This is a very nice review. Great pictures! Your son and your wife look just alike :) Nice looking family.

Does the Dream have the 2.0 upgrades? What are the alternative dining/bar options other than the normal ones. You mentioned the Tandor. Anything else?

Thanks for the compliment! I think I'll keep my wife and son!

To the best of my knowledge (and that's not a whole lot), the Dream has some of the 2.0 updates. The Blue Iguana, the Red Frog have been added. They did not add a Guy's Burgers:(

On the Lido Deck there was the Grill (burgers, etc), Tandoor (Indian), Pasta Bar, Mongolian Wok, Deli, Burrito Bar, plus the usual buffet. Our group tried the Grill, Tandoor, Mongolian Wok, and Deli. Everyone said what they had was good.

There are bars everywhere! There are at least 4 on the Lido Deck, 1 in the Serenity Area, 1 in the Lobby. The one nearest the casino was my favorite. It was far enough away from the casino to not have the slot machine noise and smoke. There was usually a band playing there. We did not go to the piano bar. Rest assured you won't have to walk very far to find a drink!

LOL. Oh I'm sure I won't. Every cruise ship makes certain of that. So it has some of the upgrades but not all. OK that's good to know. Thanks for the reply!

FABULOUS review..........so nice to find another fellow cruiser with style similar to ours!

We have done Mr. Sancho's and loved it as well.

We enjoy the Dream so much we are sailing on her a 3rd time this coming September before she leaves Port Canaveral.

We LOVE the cove balcony rooms!

Coffee tip - as we are coffee snobs/addicts -we enjoy our morning coffee on the balcony and it can't be colored hot water!

I buy the Starbucks instant on Amazon and order two pots of hot water from room service and viola great coffee in the morning on the balcony!

It beats waiting for the specialty coffee shop to open and running out in my bathrobe.

We enjoy the pasta bar on the Dream but by weeks end the secret is out about that place and the wait is crazy.

As a fellow central Floridan glad to ready that you discovered Quest, Inc for your daughter they are a wonderful organization. I applaud you for seeing that your special needs daughter learns how to live on her own, I see so many families that do not do that and keep them sheltered at home not realizing that more than likely the young adult will outlive the parents and then what! Best of luck to your daughter!

If you visit Rotan again there is great snorkeling at Mahogany Bay right off the end of the pier at the far end of the beach!

Thanks again for your review and glad you enjoyed your cruise and your time in Daytona!

Hi Susan,

I will try the pasta bar next time. THe problem is I'm not a big lunch eater. I would rather stay outside and soak up the sun.

Yes, Quest looks good. Amy wants to live in Orlando and work at Disney. She is 21 and has probably been to Disney 15 times. Our last trip there we let her go to the Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios by herself while the rest of us went to another park. She did fine and thoroughly enjoyed herself without us! Special needs does mean INVALID!

We're doing the Freedom next year. Amy does not like the idea of cruising. We've always gone without her. People with autism love routine. If she had started cruising at a younger age it would be part of her routine and I think she would like it.

Is the Starbucks instant that good? I had it once at a ball game and it didn't seem that great.

We, DH and DD, were on the Carnival Freedom last year and they had those shot glasses. I went hunting everywhere on the ship for some, couldn't find them. :( . That night at dinner, we found out that dinner time was the only time you could purchase them. Came home with 2 green ones. :) So glad that they have on the Carnival Dream! Will look forward to purchasing some more on our October 26, 2013, cruise. :)

They are very sturdy, too. I dropped one on my kitchen floor and it did not break! But they are glass, not plastic.

Susan, do you like the cove balcony better than a regular balcony?

Yes we do and here's why. We love being so close to the water, like 25-30 from the water line.

After a full day in the sun either on shore or on deck it is nice to come down to the balcony and sit out there. The cove balconies DO NOT have the glass across the front of them, they just have the rail so you get a breeze. I put my feet up there and dangle my toes thru the opening.

We also find the cove balconies are much more private than the other balconies on the Dream. We wish ALL the ships had them.

We sailed the Ecstasy in May and I sprung for E240 and aft extended balcony and it was sweet, much larger (deeper) than other balconies and we spent a lot of time out there, but not much breeze.

Billy,

Thanks for the great review!

I've been quite busy with work since our vacation; I'm just catching up on your report. We were on the same cruise as you. It's been fun re-living the trip. GREAT photos! I also love hearing other perspectives, especially when there were 4500 of them from that same week.

It's funny, my in-laws had a "spot" on deck 11 as well. We must have passed each other many times on the ship. They like to be outside, but not in the sun. Their "spot" was 20-30 feet down from your "spot" in the shade.

What itinerary are you doing next year on the Freedom? We were looking at the 8 day Eastern on the Dream for next year. With the repositioning, both the Sunshine and the Liberty will be doing the same itinerary a week apart. Sunshine is newer, but more expensive. Decisions, decisions. :)

Hi,

We are doing the Eastern Caribbean, June 14. We sail out of Ft. Lauderdale and go to US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Antigua, and Nassau. Not really thrilled with Nassau (been there, done that, twice), but never have been to the other places. It, too, is 8 days. I love that extra sea day!
