Are wine prices a lot cheaper in Costco?

We'll be flying to FLL 3 days before our Aug. 24 cruise. Will rent a car to go to Key Largo for diving/snorkeling for 2 days, then to FLL on Aug. 23 night. Would like to buy some wine.

Is it a lot cheaper at Costco, or is the price at Publix or even CVS/Walgreen quite similar? Just looking for some decent red wine.

Thanks.

Costco has an excellent wine selection and in fact, they have some of the lowest prices around. Today we stocked up on Trivento Malbec for $12.99/bottle whereas in another wine store it may retail for at least $5+ more. Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio sells at Costco for $18.99/bottle vs $24 retail, just as another example. You can get an additional 10% off if you purchase 12 bottles, mix and match.

While the prices at CVS and Walgreens are good, the selection is very very limited. You can also find a great selection at both Publix and Total Wine.

Costco regular prices are better than Publix regular prices. Publix usually has a few inexpensive featured sale wines, and Costco sometimes has sales. Total Wine and ABC have good sales all the time.

In general Costco will have better prices but the prices are not "a lot" cheaper.

Take a bottle of wine that sells for $14.99 at Publix it might be $13.99 at Costco.

If it is $25.00 at Publix might be $23.00 at Costco.

Some wines will be cheaper at Publix if they are being promoted.

And if you are talking about say buying six bottles you can get 10% off at Publix.

I like Costco and by wine there from time to time but it's not a lot cheaper in my opinion.

I like Cab Sauvignon in red. So if Costco is not out of the way, that's where we'll go. But I remember there's a Publix near the start (east end) of Key Largo. We can also buy there.

The 10% discount if buying 6 bottles at Publix sounds good. Do you get 10% off every bottle above 6, or only in multiples of 6 (i.e. the first 6 bottles get 10%, then the next 1-5 bottles regular price)?

Thanks.

there is a Total Wine very near the port if I am reading my maps correctly {closer then the airport!}

one just opened here locally and from what I've seen, their prices beat everyone else in town. Maybe not by a lot .... but their selection is un-compared.

Yes, membership is required.

Yes, I thought so...but I wondered if the original poster, from Canada, had the membership or knew of the requirement. Don't know of Costco being in Canada?
