Grandeur Delayed in Baltimore

Grandeur scheduled to depart Baltimore for King's Wharf at 4p.m. has yet to sail. A fuel truck had a spill on the dock and Coast Guard will not allow Grandeur to depart until the spill is completely cleaned up.

We sailed with him on Navigator from NOLA in January. He and June are doing fine. There are no plans for any more Mardi Gras cruises.

I was wondering what the delay was. I would have thought the ship leaving would make access to clean up the spill easier. I hope it isn't too smelly.

Hi Roy,

Friends on board have told us that the Coast Guard declared the spill Grandeur's responsibility. She can't leave the scene until the spill is completely cleaned up. Believe most of it is on the pier.

I guess I don't see a delay in departure as a real problem. After all, everyone is onboard the ship and can enjoy what the ship has to offer. (A little different than sitting on a plane stuck on the tarmac.) Plus, they can make up the time lost and should get to Bermuda at the regularly scheduled time.

We had so much fun with the four of you the one time we were able to do the cruise that we were hoping to do it at least one more time.

 

But I know how much work was put into the Mardi Gras cruise so I can't blame Charles for stepping away from it.

 

And we will always remember the two of you as our Mardi Gras Queen and King.

Looks like Grandeur made up the time. The map on the port of Bermuda webcam shows her passing St. George. Shouldn't be long before she appears on the webcam for her entrance into Kings Wharf.
