maxs mom Posted October 25, 2013 Author #51 Share Posted October 25, 2013 So it was back to the cabin after the ice show for some quiet reading and relaxation time. The Concierge Lounge was just a little livelier this evening. We sat with a couple from Pennsylvania who were just newly D+. We had some great conversation. (Come to think of it.....just about everyone we met was from Pennsylvania!!) In the dining room.....we got our same table and wait staff tonight. They were all ready with Janet's gluten free meal that she ordered the night before and John's sugar free chocolate ice cream. It was Italian night so I had the Tiger Shrimp. For dessert , they had my favorite dessert of the week......sticky bread pudding. Sooooooo good!! It was a nice dinner once again! If you only knew the problems we've had getting sugar free chocolate ice cream every night on other cruises! It was such a pleasure for him to be served this every night without feeling guilty! After dinner, a stroll through the Promenade led to a stroll through the casino, which led to another donation!! Those machines weren't giving anything up!! On to bed after that. This little guy was waiting for us:

Sonny Posted October 25, 2013 #53 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Thank you for the best review I've ever read. My wife and I were on the Explorer from 9/8/13 to 9/29/13 for the Canada cruise. It was a special cruise because we made Pinnacle the first week. We'll be back on her from 21/2/13 to 12/22/13. There are some good prices for the 12/2 sailing if your interested. Around $800pp for a balcony for 10 nights. Sonny
DeBlasio1 Posted October 25, 2013 #54 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Just a quick note to say thank you for all your efforts on doing this very nice review. We haven't been on the Explorer for awhile and we set sail again on her December 2nd, so your review is very interesting and informative. Happy retirement and wishing you many years of great memory making. Stay well and smooth sailing. Again, thank you.;)

maxs mom Posted October 25, 2013 Author #64 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Here are a couple of pictures that I forgot from that evening. We were walking out of the dining room and I shot this of the dining room ....deck 3. Someone was using the Captain's table tonight. I think it was the Pinnacle folks on board and some other D+ folks. And here is the towel animal du jour:

maxs mom Posted October 25, 2013 Author #66 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Wednesday ~ October, 16, 2013 ~ Bermuda Up early again .....around 7......still chugging into Bermuda and the weather is nasty. CL was totally empty again, but I had some great coffee and some quiet time! Janet and Gene were always right on time for breakfast. That was always appreciated. We were checking the weather from the balcony......not good. At breakfast this morning, we had a great table with Carl and Kit and Dee and Dennis......both couples from Cruise Critic. We had a great time. We were in no hurry this morning because the weather was so lousy. I had an egg white omelet today and it was excellent......piping hot! bluecookies Posted October 25, 2013 #68 Share Posted October 25, 2013 My wife and I were on the 9/29 sailing, just two weeks prior. I always enjoy reading another review and seeing pictures of ours or a similar sailing, making notes of similarities and differences. You might already know this, but the guest ice skater with his wheel, was actually supposed to have a partner. He comes out by himself and does his act, then comes back again with a double wheel. There are supposed to be two people on it. On our sailing it was just him as his partner could not be there. Was this your first time to Bermuda? I LOVED the way the ship stayed there for three days! It's what drew me to this itinerary.
Barb Nahoumi Posted October 25, 2013 #69 Share Posted October 25, 2013 I truly enjoyed the review and photos. If you check the portbermudawebcam.com, you'll see the Explorer docked in Bermuda now. She'll be there until 4pm., this afternoon.

No....we've been to Bermuda many, many times......so many that I have lost count. But it is very nice that the ship stays there for three days. you don't feel so rushed. njmomof2 Posted October 25, 2013 #72 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Jane, congratulations on your retirement, and your upcoming birthday. It's lovely to see your review of Explorer, having sailed with you on Freedom this past August, and having been on Explorer with my mom this past March. So nice to see more photos of her, and the lovely Wendy, the LA. Such a nice girl. I too agree with you about the Diamond breakfast area. Mom and I enjoyed it on Explorer, and were disappointed that they did not have it on Freedom this summer. It was a lovely way to start each morning when we sailed. Mom just made D+ and I made D on our Freedom cruise, so while she can hit the CL now, I can't yet and since she doesn't drink other than a club soda, it's not worth it for her, so we'll be visiting the Diamond lounge on Allure when we sail her next August (with the boys again of course!). Again, enjoy your retirement and your future cruises. Looking forward to more of your reviews.
NJ Gal Posted October 25, 2013 #73 Share Posted October 25, 2013 (edited) You mentioned that suite guests were invited to Cloud 9 for cocktails. Does that mean they cannot use the CL as they have in the past? Cloud 9 was used for diamond guests on our past cruises on the Explorer. How was the food on the cruise? maxs mom Posted October 25, 2013 Author #74 Share Posted October 25, 2013 Since it was so rainy and windy.....we cancelled our beach plans (duh) and just got off and wandered around King's Wharf for a while. The tram will take you all around. Not many seats on there, though! We walked through the Clock Tower Mall. We got free Wi-Fi (with purchase) at Bermy Berry......it was not very fast, though. We ended up at the Frog and Onion and had their craft beer sampler. Quite good! I liked the lighter ones. You get 5 - 6 oz. glasses for $15. You and your mom will enjoy the Diamond Lounge, I'm sure. that will be great for both of you! I agree with you about Wendy. She is one of the best LA's. It's a shame they don't have more like her. Unfortunately she will be getting married soon and I don't look for her to stay on much after that. Enjoy the Allure! It's really something!
