Questions about making reservations for Chops

Ok so for our upcoming cruise my dh and I are thinking of trying Chops. We've not done any specialty dining before so is it best to make reservations now or is it safe to do it onboard? I would prefer to wait b/c my thought is to check out the MDR menu and if we aren't that excited about it then go to Chops but don't want to miss out on not getting in. So am I safe waiting or should I go ahead and book. We will be on Seranade in January. Thanks!

You should be fine making the reservation once onboard

Sea days are tough, if you are looking to book a night on a sea day I would book now, especially if you are a big party, they do fill up on some cruises but most other nights you should be able to get in.

We have never had a problem booking Chops once aboard the ship. :)

Chops should have all the week's menus. So you can make reservations on embarkation day after seeing which night you want to miss the MDR.

We never book ahead of time......we book on board as soon as we embark. Have never had a problem.....always get what we want.

We have never had an issue booking in board. Once we did not get the exact time we wanted, a half hour later, but we have always been able to get a table.

I suggest you book now. When on board, if you care about the time/day, you might not get what you want.

I suggest you book now. When on board, if you care about the time/day, you might not get what you want. In addition, the meal in chops will be much better then any evening dinner in the MDR.

I tried to book Chops back in October for Dec31st and it was already full. We chose Portofinos instead. We were able to get in Jan 3.

 

I can understand New Year's Eve being booked.

I book when I board and did not have any problem. Why not take a look at the menu, there are several floating around these boards and decide which day you want to eat at Chops and make the reservation now if you feel more comfortable. Chops was wonderful, but there are things I do not want to miss in the MDR too.
