Hello,

I have a certificate for a free cruise (ex. tax & port fees) for 2 for an inside cabin. I have never sailed with Norwegian and am wondering if I should upgrade to a window? I have sailed in all types of cabins. I think I am going to select a 7 day cruise on the Breakaway from NY Nov. 2, 2014.

Thanks for any help,

Ms. Fun Bunch

Same here. Won a 7 day I am doing the breakaway also, doing it in March 2014.

Now I was on the Breakaway in Aug & Oct in a balcony. If you can upgrade it would be nice. People I talked the said the inside on NCL are smaller and have less storage than Carnival.

I would wait for others rot chime in, I have only done NCL.

We did a casino cruise with ncl on the Gem and we got a really nice room (owners suite) you will just have to pay a little for it. Nice perk to this is you don't have to pay for drinks in the casino.

Thanks for the response. I am going to call tomorrow to get the upgraded prices for the different cabins.

I have used this "free cruise" twice so far with NCL and both times I upgraded to a Ocean view. I am traveling again "free" in March and this time we upgraded to a balcony. I figure it is worth it upgrading since I did not have to pay full price for cruise. I don't like inside cabins because it is no sunlight and it disorientates me. It takes me a while to get my mind/body in daytime mode.

How do you get these free cruise offers?

We are taking four of them in January and February. Two back to backs.

We are Diamond level with the Caesar's chain. My hubby is actually Diamond Level 2. He gets most of the offers, me not so many.

The last one we booked cost us $300 each person to upgrade to a balcony. Definitely worth it to us.

We also have used our free cruise certificates from our casinos for years. I do suggest you upgrade to at least the ov cabin the inside is OK if you have them split the beds into two twins but is very dark. I also suggest you split the beds in the ov this way you can sit and watch from your window. This time we have upgraded to a aft balcony on the Breakaway. Have fun.

Also got a free cruise (from Revel) for pretty much any 2014 7 day cruise. Booked the free inside cabin (pay for taxes/port) on Breakaway to Bermuda in June. Saved almost $1000 per person based on the prices I see online.

I will definitely be upgrading since an inside cabin is really tiny compared to other lines. But since I had to book it within 60 days, I just had them book the inside for now and they said I can upgrade later for the additional cost when I figure out which type of cabin. Probably be upgrading to balcony or mini-suite. Hopefully an aft-facing which has a bigger balcony.

They also included a bottle of wine and chocolate covered strawberries for the room plus casino drink cards for both of us. But we will probably just do the beverage package so we won't use the drink cards.

I too received the free cruise from Harrah's, but for an inside only.:( Being I'm an established CAS player I gave them a call and they gave me a ocean view cabin for the same price offered for that inside cabin.:D

So, always check both prices if you deal with CAS.

Inside cabins are small but fine on the Jewel/Gem ships, but not on the Breakaway-smaller inside cabins, but nice OV. Our OV was nicer and roomier feeling than our friends family mini-suite. On Jewel/Gem we love aft balcony (10th floor the best/biggest), and if upgrading with the certificate is not too much $$, we grab it, otherwise we happy with inside cabins, and the drink cards we receive

Safe sailing

I didn't realize that I could use two of my offers to do a B2B thanks for the info.

I also received a certificate like you and am going on the breakaway march 23. We decided to upgrade to a balcony. Our inside cost $310 per person for inside 7 day cruise and our upgrade was an extra $340 for the balcony. I think we got a great deal. Also included are drink cards upon arrival.

We're using a Total Rewards voucher for the Epic in January. Paid $660 (for 2) to upgrade to a balcony. Soooo looking forward to it.

Sailing with my best friend of 43 years to celebrate our 50th birthdays!!! The upgrade to a balcony room is a surprise for her.

I'm going to mention this because I am a NCL fan, and this is your first NCL cruise. The first week of November, every year, is NJ's Teachers Convention. Most schools are closed that Thursday and Friday, some are closed Tuesday for election day, and some are closed the entire week. Therefore, many families choose to vacation that week, and since airfaire to Orlando is extremely high (due to the convention), lots find cruising out of NYC to be a good deal.

We have sailed twice this particular week (we have children in school), and last month, there were about 1800 children on our Breakaway sailing. It was a very full ship, the terminal was packed, you needed reservations for shows, etc. Didn't bother us a bit, but if you are not prepared... Just didn't want a sailing full of kids to make you dislike NCL.
