Thanks for the info. We are comparing Carnival Liberty and MSC Devina. The itinerary is different but we have been to all of the islands on both except for Great Stirup Cay. I guess I have a lot of homework to do making my pros and cons list for both ships. Anything else you can think of that would be a big difference I would appreciate it.

I can answe what I had in my room. No robes. Only liquid soap at the sink and liquid soap and shampoo in the shower. No other soaps (bar) or lotions. There was a sewing kit and bath cap.

Hey - first - super awesome review thanks for all the info. Second you probably covered this somewhere cause I don't think you left anything out but - are there robes in the room or do you need to bring your own. Thanks!

We had 3 cabins, 2 balconies and 1 inside ....1 of the balconies was missing robes, but we asked and they were quickly placed in our cabin....one thing though...they weren't initially on hangers but they were folded and placed on the top shelf in the closet.

We sailed the Liberty a couple of years ago, it was okay...again I have never been on a bad cruise, that being said we much preferred the Divina.

After breakfast I wanted to try to de-bunk any MSC myths that I read ,or see If I could confirm....kinda like looking for Bigfoot or The Lochness Monster , I need to see if I could get photographic evidence of these myths.

I remember reading a review where someone had stated that you couldn't tell the difference between the mens and womens rooms because the signs look too similar ...you be the judge..

now the funny thing is , that while I was taking this picture, one of the cleaning crew was nearby and I had to explain exactly why I was taking a picture of not 1 but 2 bathroom doors....oh the adventurous life of a mythbuster.

I figured it out....You can't tell if the person in the wheelchair is a man or woman...that's where the reviewer was confused...

Thanks for all of the info. Does MSC have anything like FTTF?

I haven't seen anything like the FTTF program that CCL runs, but in my opinion they (MSC) boarded quite fast and Carnivals FTTF program is just a way to bleed you for money that if you just arrive early you don't need to spend. We also were allowed to drop our carry ons at our cabin immediately on boarding even though it was not 100% ready.

There isn't a lot of info about the Divina, but with the reviews of steelcrusin, and bosjoe, we feel confident on the back to back cruise we bought in May on the Divina!

We also were looking at Carnival, the Glory in our case, but with the employee pricing special MSC is running, we got a balcony for less then what an ocean view would have cost on the Glory!:) That made the decision easy!

There are a lot of nice people here who've gone on the Divina before and they will help you if you need info!

I hope I answered most of the questions people had about the Divina.... I plan on summing everything up real soon, just been so busy. I will be glad to post more pics as I go through them.

Do please, your pics are very helpful and informative

Thanks to the OP and all who followed for posting here. All the info has been great. We're looking forward to boarding MSC Divina in the morning. :-)

We did take someone's hint and rented a car from Alamo at MAI. Worked out to be about $40 w/taxes for a 24-hour rental. We'll return the car to MAI tomorrow and Alamo will provide a free transfer to the port. Nice!

Ate dinner tonight at a terrific Cuba restaurant -- Havana Harry's. Great food, service and price.

  • 2 weeks later...

Summing it all up.... I sit here at my desk at work waiting for the weekend to start and thought that now is as good a time as any to end my little review. MSC was everything we had hopped it would be and more, having had a critical eye during this cruise , I think that I missed some of the enjoyment of just going with the flow....that being said, the Divina is still my favorite cruise to date. There is just something special about her, and it may be how wrong I found the sceptics to be ...never did we find rude staff, just the opposite, the food was exciting and different, the shows were the best we have experienced at sea and even had my 19 Y.O. son attending. No where did I find the bathroom signs that didn't distinguish between men and women. MSC feels like family to me, the staff seemed to genuinely care about their ship and the guests that were aboard that week. Never were they in your face with announcements or selling drinks but they were always just a hand signal away from coming to help . There were plenty of things to do during the day or one could just sit back and do nothing at all. I guess after having the time to ponder on it the reason we loved our MSC cruise is it gave us time to reconnect as a family.... we spent more time just being together enjoying a cappuchino or some music in one of the lounges or a long dinner with some reminiscing or balcony time b4 dinner or a sunset or people watching....there was plenty of time just to rediscover us and what we mean to each other. MSC has found a customer in us, I just hope they stay affordable...lol... I wish nothing but success to them. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed!

A few more parting pictures...
