Has anyone noticed on the VP, they've switched one of the informal nights to a formal now. Without checking my previous paperwork I'm not sure which one, but instead of 5 formals, there are now 6.

 

Not so much of an issue for men, but I'll have to pop in another long dress and remove a cocktail dress.

Thinking of you all! I had planned to embark at Mumbai as there was such a fantastic offer on for the last 26 days of the world cruise. I was just waiting for confirmation from a friend. Unfortunately it arrived a few days too late and the cruise was sold out. I am almost in mourning when I think what I could be doing now - preparing to leave for 26 days.

It was good to get accurate information from the Cunard helpline :rolleyes: but still an improvement over nothing !

Normally a good way to find this out is to go to 'ask Cunard' https://ask.cunard.com/help/cunard/life-on-board/dress_code_all and search for the dress code information.

 

You should find a pdf file listing dress codes and ball information for many cruises, as well as the planned arrival and departure times (which could change of course).

 

However this file has not been updated at this time, and still shows Egypt ports, nothing for Haifa. Never rely on these times, always check at the gangplank !

Two days for a trip from Haifa to Naples is not real challenge. I would assume a regular departure at 7pm.

We had our pirate drill this morning. The windows in the public rooms have been covered in the evening. I hate having to keep my curtains drawn in my stateroom.

 

The booking form for Haifa on the 29th says "in port overnight- 6-30 pm."

Thanks for posting this link, I never knew that this information was available through the Cunard website. Although it isn't always going to be accurate and updated, it is good to know it is available, especially with the arrival and departure times.

You are most welcome. A very good source of information, and you can also find out who the Officers will be and also the speakers who are due to entertain us during the trip. Sometimes it is also possible to find out who will be performing on the ship - I did find this the other day, but can't remember how !

 

Food and drink menus are usually available as well, if you have not found them up to now !

The captain just made the announcement that the dreaded Noro has come visiting. He also said that The Verandah and other alternative dining venues are closed due to the increased need for servers in the Lido.

 

I just went through the line in the Lido and it was quick but it is an off time. I imagine things will get really backed up when lunch starts in about a half an hour.

 

On the good side, Indian customs went quickly and easily and I was through in about three minutes. We get to Mumbai tomorrow.

Nothing was mentioned about the library. I will check tomorrow.

 

Rumor has it that "it" boarded in Singapore and most of the victims are on deck 6. (That is what I heard at dinner.)

 

We were also given a travel warning about Mumbai tomorrow including the phone numbers for different embassies. This is the first time that we have been given a warning about a specific port.

I had only the English instructions as I do not want the German leaflet with all it's funny errors. So I think it was for all passengers.

 

It seemed to be a standard procedure as the wordings were the same for Capetown, Athens, Cairo and Barcelona on another WC as well. So I do not intend to point out that LA might be more dangerous to naiive tourists than Mumbai. Since Cunard warned for "riots" at Hamburg I am sure that there is a new lawyr involved, probably never left Butte MO in his life before...

To those on the roll call that remember me from the Fort Lauderdale to Sydney segments. You know how we all said how lovely and comfortable the beds are, well I have just taken delivery of the Sealy Cunarder mattress and topper. It is so comfortable.

Pat did you purchase the 'Commodore' version ?

 

I understand this is the top of the range model with a remote control that allows you select the degree of ripple and roll from F0 (Flat Calm) to F12 (Hurricane force) and is specially designed for seasoned seafarers ? :D

About 3pm he came on again asking for blood donors with A+ blood. Have not yet heard any rumours of what that was about.

That sounds like s serious situation of an individual passenger or member of staff. Not the best area to send someone to hospital. Let's hope.

At the World Voyage Cocktail Party tonight the Captain thanked all the people who had responded to the call for blood. He also said we would be making a quick stop in Muscat tomorrow to disembark the person who needed the blood.

On the noon announcements the Captain said the cases of Noro continue to decline but the Code Red would remain in place for now.

 

He also said we would be disembarking "two patients" at about 5:30 today. We will not actually dock but stop in the harbor of Muscat. I am not sure when he said two patients if there were actually two sick passengers or one and his/her traveling companion.

 

Because we traveled so quickly through the night, we will arrive in Abu Dhabi at 6 pm tomorrow and will be docked there overnight.

Thanks for keeping us posted, Kathi. Here's hoping the person who is ill will be OK. Wish you were stopping in Muscat for the day as it's one of my favorite ports. Sheik Qaboos has done wonders for his country without letting it become overbuilt like other desert cities. ~Patti
