Rare 5:00_Somewhere Posted January 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) This is a heart-warming coda to a local story in here Boston, and I thought some people here on the Princess forum might find it interesting. Ellen gives Princess Cruise to Firefighters for saving dog from freezing water. ;) Edited January 15, 2014 by 5:00_Somewhere
EightFurryPaws Posted January 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 15, 2014 I saw Ellen as well, and it just brought tears to my eyes. She also gave a Princess Cruise on the Royal to everyone in her audience during her 12 days of Christmas give aways, but for the firefighters, it was very special. Sharing her wealth in that way shows she has class.

EightFurryPaws Posted January 16, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 16, 2014 And unfortunately, due to Massachusetts Ethics laws, the firefighters have no choice but to return the gift. Wouldn't something like that have been checked out by the Ellen show producers before giving a gift to them on national TV?
jean s Posted January 16, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 16, 2014 I work for a town in Massachusetts and it is true that town employees cannot accept a gift worth $50 or more. I can see why Ellen's staff didn't know as many many people in Massachusetts are unaware of this law.
1025cruise Posted January 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 16, 2014 According to the article I read, the chief even poured over the paperwork to make sure it was legit that the Ellen show could fly them out to California without violating the ethics laws.... One would think they would have checked that. My company does work with the state, I deal with people who have no say in decisions, and I can't even treat for lunch if I wanted to. EightFurryPaws Posted January 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 16, 2014 It is on-line today that the firefighters had to return the cruise vouchers, but were able to keep the life vests. Just a terrible disappointment for some great guys.
pablo222 Posted January 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 16, 2014 Sharing her wealth in that way shows she has class. Do you think Ellen personally pays for the gifts to the audience? I always presumed that the gift was donated by the supplier, in exchange for the publicity of having it mentioned on the show.
