Big News about All You Can Drink Package

We don't even share my wife's coffee card. We buy one for her and understand that the unlimited fresh brewed coffee is for the holder of the card - not for friends, spouse, etc. There are plenty of honest people. I think Princess has already anticipated this issue and will deal with it appropriately. I won't be purchasing the package but making everyone in a cabin purchase it if one did was just too much of a burden on people who are with someone who doesn't drink.

The OP didn't say but I'm guessing that the ridiculous stricture of making people purchase the soda package for all minors in the cabin has also been lifted.

The coffee card can be shared, not the drink pkg.

Personally I think this is great news. This just made me book a cruise and take my daughter with us as we share a room, so 3 in the room. She does not drink at all, I will have wine with my dinner which I will take my own on or purchase it and my husband can drink away. While on Holland America we both had to purchase it and can get 15 drinks a day and didn't matter whose card they punched. Personnally if hal limits the drinks who really cares if both use it as then it is just 1 less for the person. Didn't make sense but oh well. Glad to see it and we now are sailing with princess again. As the women said they listened to their passengers.!

Its says the drinks package is not available on Dawn, Golden, Ocean, Pacific, Regal, Sea and Sun Princess.

Does anyone know if its likely to be rolled out onto Regal seeing as its a brand new ship?

There's a mistake (or two) since the package is now available on the Golden and will be available on the Regal. Just typos...

My husband and I just got off the Ruby Princess on a 5 day sailing to the Western Caribbean. We purchased the all-inclusive drink package and we were very pleased with it. We are wine, mimosa and martini drinkers and the selection of wines included was very extensive so we had no issues with it. In fact, there were only 2 wines on the menu at Vines that were not included. The service at Vines was excellent as well (just FYI). We bought the package from the bar manager at Vines right after we boarded the ship. We also had no trouble getting wine in the dining room although the selection was much more limited - there were still a few fine options. The champagne they served was Korbel and they would give you the little 187 ml bottles so you could actually take them back to your room if you wanted to. It seemed to us that most of the boat was on the drink package so they must think it is a pretty good deal for the cruise line.

Also, we did have to sign the slips each time but did not take the copy with us as we knew that was worthwhile for us so did not feel the need to keep track. If you have other questions, please ask.

Barbara

We just came back from that same trip...and can confirm what Barbara says. Also, I specifically asked about coffee/bottled water etc, and was told 'all liquid refreshments under $10' were included. I loved the fact that I didn't really have to worry about what I ordered (other than checking to see if it was under $10 which most were). I found a particularly yummy drink at Crooners (the Baccarat) that tasted like a chocolate covered cherry!! and I ordered one while listening to the music and another after to take with me to the casino...that along with my morning caramel lattes, several bottled waters, and sodas with lunch and during the day got me to close to the daily amount. Where they got ME was the day and half when I was off the ship on excursions... That said, the ease in being able to just walk up, hand them my card, sign, and walk away with a drink was worth whatever I didn't meet. Happy to answer any questions too!

Does Princess have a non-alcoholic package like Celebrity. You can get pop, water, fresh juice, tea or coffee for one price. This package was $18.00/day and did not include any alcoholic drinks.

The Ultimate Soda and More Package at $7.00/day ($8.05 with gratuity) includes pop, fresh juice, milkshakes and "mocktails". Only the $49/day package includes water. Coffee card are $33.35 and include 15 specialty coffee drinks (punches can be used on later cruises) and unlimited regular brewed coffee, specialty teas and hot chocolate only for the voyage on which you buy the card.

No other package includes bottled water.

You can get a coffee card which would cover tea and coffee.

You can get the soda and more card (sticker) which would cover pop, juice, mocktails and a couple of other items.

The juice would not be fresh squeezed with this package.

I think it's a great deal, as it also includes bottled water. One less thing I have to "lug" on the ship with me. I might have a few more latte's :D

We just "lug" a couple of empty water bottles on board, then fill from the bathroom tap and place in fridge for the next day. Many people don't realize the ship water is actually purer than bottled water.

LOL. As opposed to the standard practice of walking up, handing them your card, signing, and walking away?

For me it's not the fact that I believe bottled water is purer. Evian spelled backwards is Naive. It's the convenience of being able to dispose of the empty water bottles when done and getting a fresh cold bottle when needed. Before someone flames me about mother earth and land fill think about what we purchase in the grocery store now. Everything from soft drinks to household cleaning products comes in a plastic bottle. I don't think the few water bottles that a toss every few years on a cruise is going to matter in the long run. I don't buy into those Brita commercials either.

If you throw it away properly on the ship, Princess recycles...so that helps.

I saw on the princess website the adult drink package is not available on the Golden Princess. Has anyone sailed recently that can confirm or deny that? It also states the cost is $56.25 per person. Not sure if the website needs updated or in fact it is not available at this time. Thanks friends!

It is available on the Golden. Just a typo on the website.

Just to add, for those who don't know, if you buy a drink on the ship while it is in port, and that port's city has a sales tax, you are taxed on the drink. At sea, no tax.

Although this may be true in some ports, it certainly is not true in most ports that are in cities that have a sales tax. For instance Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Or I do not understand what you mean.

Which ports did you buy a drink while in port that was taxed? I have never been taxed.

Taxed in Port Everglades now until in International waters. I assume the same is true for Miami.
