Hope I did the right Thing

Just booked a 15 night Transatlantic October 31, 2015. Have only cruised Carnival and Princess. Had originally booked Princess, but this cruise was 1/2 the price and very similar. We are not really foodies, but enjoy beer and the simpler things in life. Is Celebrity for me? Tried to book the beverage package but it said it wasn't available? Is the cruise too far out? Tried to book anything just to get pricing and nothing was available?

I hope I didn't get myself into something that I won't be comfortable on....what are your thoughts Celebrity cruisers?

We have done seven Celebrity cruises in the past four years, including a TA last May.

Celebrity is a class cruise line, they aren't pushy selling photos or promotions. The average X cruiser is well traveled and good company on a cruise. People have fun, but never see anyone getting out of hand or falling over intoxicated.

The entertainment, food and service is consistently good. We did a lot of wine tastings on our TA and enjoyed the fitness center.

Here are some of my reviews on cc.

The latest 123 promo does not offer the beverage

packages on transatlantics. We were lucky enough

to have the package on our TA last November.

I"THINK"?? it's because with all the sea days there

is a lot more alcohol consumed vs port days.

Thanks, I actually wanted to purchase the beverage package but it said it was unavailable.

Is this something new on Transatlantics? I know you can't get the free promo but I've never heard of not being able to buy the package on a TA. Perhaps you should call instead of trying to do it online.

Perhaps it's because it's so far out that you can't purchase it yet.

I have purchased the beverage package on line in the past without a problem. Celebrity has some problems with their website from time to time. You can call Celebrity and purchase the drink package or if you booked with a TA they can do it for you. Another option is to purchase it when you get on the ship- price is the same whether you buy it now or on the ship.

I think you will enjoy your cruise. Be sure to check out the Martini bar:)

Getting back to what I think your main concern is, Celebrity should be just fine for you, as far as food and accommodations go. There are any number of activities, too. Your real concern might be the number of sea days. People who need constant stimulation will probably be bored by the third day out. Those who can entertain themselves usually enjoy the TAs. We're doing two this year.

If it is the Silhouette you are talking about, come on over and join us on the roll call. Once I took my first Celebrity cruise, I never looked back.

Thanks everyone. I LOVE sea days. This would be my 11th cruise and the more sea days the better.

Ginger you will be amazed that you waited to sail Celebrity, IMHO.

Our 1st Princess was in 1992, our most recent was the Ruby in 2012. After the Reflection last November, if there is any Celebrity sailing that will work we will not consider booking Princess. You will be very comfortable.

ps: Yes it is a bit far out to do any add's.

This would be my assumption. You can't always book shore excursions right away, either. When I asked about that problem, I was told "The inventory is not yet available." Whatever that means. I think they treat things like excursions and beverage packages as commodities, and they have to be loaded into the system.

thanks everyone! Hope to be a converted Celebrity sailor....

Well, we're not true converts, as we have taken many very enjoyable cruises on Princess and other lines, too. There are not such significant differences between them to warrant blind allegiance IMHO. When push comes to shove, itineraries, cost, and personal schedules will still govern. Have a great trip
