Could the Carnival Vista be Project Mille?

Very interesting renderings. Is that 4 pools I see (3 obvious and one under the glass)?

Looks like it. The smaller forward pool is likely for the Yacht Club (ship within a ship) only.

MSC has always been generous with pools on their ships. Carnival not so much. Perhaps that will change?

Perhaps. There is a lot there to like. Love the aft wraps as well. We can hope......

I kinda like the pool on the lower promenade deck.

Me too. The pool on the MSC ship also matches up to rumors somebody typed up here months ago. I copied them from a different thread to post here.

"1. There will be no large Atrium - only 3 decks stopping at deck 5:

2. Deck 4 will have the Casino from the existing conference room to the Blush Dining Room as exists on Breeze;

3. Ship will be approximately 21 feet longer at bow and 30 feet at aft;

4. It will be the same width as the Dream Class;

5. There will be 3 pools (with a 1/2 in 1/2 out pool where the current Limelight Lounge is on the Breeze);

6. More cabins with a capacity of 5,100 persons (an increase of 400 persons from existing Breeze);

7. Cabins will be in existing empty space above deck 5 of Breeze Atrium;

8. Deck 5 will have a number of "specialty" restaurants (paid) with a variety of themes;

9. There will be a "Crew Serenity" area at bow of ship with same style chairs, hammocks etc. (no spa) like the existing Serenity areas on board Carnival ships;

10. It will be around 5,000 tons heavier than existing Dream Class (130,000) and will most likely be called Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, or Carnival Splash, most likely Sunrise!"

Here are the "Seaside Class" ships that MSC just ordered from Fincantieri. I agree they look a lot like the Project Mille, but they also look a lot like the new Aida ship being built in Japan, the AIDA PRIMA. All share similar traits. What really stands out with MSC's Seaside Class, is the direct midship funnel placement which is very unusual, and a feature of Project Mille.

As I suggested earlier, I think when you look at AIDA PRIMA and now this Seaside Class, you will see a lot of what CARNIVAL VISTA will look like, as both designs are modified off Carnival's Dream Class platform which itself has roots all the way back to CARNIVAL DESTINY.

You are spot on Ernie, it does seem that the Seaside Class is based off of the Mille Project for a couple of reasons:

1.) Mid-ship engines & funnel

2.) Wrap-around promenade

3.) Pool on lower levels of the ship (promenade)

4.) Lifeboat placement below promenade

5.) Narrower superstructure

6.) It even has the same white and black pole structure in the forward area of the top decks, except in the official rendering the colors are inverted.

Very interesting development. As for the ship itself, while it won't win any beauty contests it is certainly nice to see something different.

If true this tells me vista will not be MILLE and will be a traditional ship design with pools on top. If vista was going to be based on Mille the would have locked up the design.

Maybe, While I get your point, there could be significant changes (enough to satisfy Carnival and Fincantieri). The narrow superstructure in the aft is one of the things I don't really like. Think you cold still have the pool there but the narrow design of the cabin area when looking down from the balconies would be a fairly lousy view.

When we sailed the Orchestra, it was very much like a Carnival ship both exterior and interior, escpet bathrooms were really small.

Thanks for sharing, very interesting indeed. I wonder where they sourced this info from? The article also mentions that Carnival may venture outside of the NA market I think China may be in the future plans for CCL they'd be a good fit there.

The source was an investment bank analysis of carnival stock since they have no ships on order past 2016. There are several articles about this. Some mainstream news said the orders may be for other brands some say for CCL. I dont know about the china thing tho. I think CCL is too american for china. It may do well in English speaking countries like Australia but not sure in an Asian market. I think that is why carnival corp is building up costa in the Asian market. If this holds true about the ship orders. You and jimbo will be proven right. I believe you both said you see CCL ordering new ships soon. You all should be psychics lol

Interesting posts guys. The disappointing news there is the release date. This coincides with what I had seen originally when the Vista was announced. Later, as in a month or so ago, I read somewhere (here or a some press release?) that she would sail in April. December 2016 would be a let down for me. If it turns into a Mille ship I guess that offsets it.

I still feel they would feel strong pressure to place orders for additional ships.

One thing all new ships are going to is the use of fiber optic cable instead of copper cable (phone lines and cat 5). It improves communication speed, materials costs less and weighs less. In fact a ship recently pulled out its copper cable for fiber and the ship rose 6 inches out of the water.
