Elaine5715 Posted May 12, 2014 #51 Share Posted May 12, 2014 I was also disembarking on the Conquest yesterday and saw no ICE or other government personnel in the Guest areas of the ship. There was no walking around the ship lobby, either. The lobby was roped off except for access to Guest Services and the exit area. The lobby area was off limits except to talk to Guest Services or to leave.

sandij Posted May 13, 2014 #53 Share Posted May 13, 2014 A few years ago we came home in Miami on a Carnival and as we passed the last station to get off and slid our cards one last time an alarm went off. The ship personal asked us to step aside and sit in one area near the entrance. We had no idea why and they just kept saying they were waiting for someone to come meet us. After 45 minutes and everyone leaving the ship staring at us (at least it felt that way) a ship officer escorted us off to the custom desk where in two minutes the lady cleared it all up and let us go. When entering the passport numbers someone on the ship had transposed two numers and my DH's came up as a stolen item. The Customs lady immedialely saw the error and for that I was so grateful, but as they say **** happens/
bdever Posted May 13, 2014 #54 Share Posted May 13, 2014 To the OP: I am so so sorry this happened to you. There is no excuse for being treated the way you were treated and the ICE agent you were dealing with clearly did not handle the situation effectively. We should all be given the benefit of the doubt and treated with common courtesy and respect instead of being treated as criminals and suspect of ill intentions. Maybe it was the way I was raised or maybe it is because I majored in communications and feel this agent really could take a 101, not sure. You were one the ship, thee were no signs indicating you could not use your phone due to the area being restricted and there was no announcement made. Clearly you are not a mind reader. Not_Done_Living Posted May 13, 2014 #56 Share Posted May 13, 2014 As an FYI to all these civil rights lawyers on this forum. You are in no man's land at that point and have no civil rights until you clear CBP. You only get what they give you. Don't try to be a hero. Inside the customs area, it is clearly marked in big signs on the walls. I'd taken a picture but I read the sign.
CRUZBUDS Posted May 13, 2014 #58 Share Posted May 13, 2014
I have never seen ICE on a ship even after 25 cruises. Weird.
In San Diego customs is done on board -- all cruises. Non-U.S. citizens are directed to a lounge or theater for processing with customs agents. I've seen a few that could be nicer. :)

JustCruiseMe Posted May 13, 2014 #62 Share Posted May 13, 2014
The question I have the OP said she was in the hallway outside the dinning room. Which one, cause the forward dinning room's fornt hall by the photo gallery is off limints till you are called. If an ICE angent saw the OP in a restricted area twice for no aparant reason U would hope he would do something. Sent from my LG-D959 using Forums mobile app
Self assist on Liberty meets in the room off the hallway from the dining room, overflow stood in the hall and it's ON the ship!
