BOGO sale with many restrictions

Recommended Posts

Did anyone find out for sure about name changes? I booked onboard last week and the third person is my son or daughter (not sure yet of the gender). The agent made me put a name down instead of 'baby' so I just made one up. Now I understand why he wanted a name, although he never mentioned this policy. Guess this will be a cancellation if it's true. On the phone now, well on hold now.

I found out..............nothing. She tried to get an answer but couldn't get a hold of a supervisor. She did say she put a note on my reservation that said I called and to honor the price when I need to change the name.

Sorry to be ignorant but could someone tell me what the BOGO sale is. I am a C&A member at it's been several years since I have sailed with Royal. I have read all posts but could not find what BOGO stands for.

Dixieva-You are right. I think a lot of people will get conflicting answers regarding the restrictions on the BOGO sale. First I hear you cannot do a name change-then I am told I can-then I am told no cabin changes even in same category and now you are saying the rep says you can. Don't know what the right answer is but we will all find out after May 31st and throughout the year when people start wanting to make these changes.

Typical responses of yes and no, I serious doubt they would make a restriction on name changes and room changes within the same cat during a promotion or non-promotion pricing. This has been the practice for many years of allowing these changes without charging fees or losing obc etc, usually its a TA that charges fees for changes and not Royal themselves.

Pricing are starting to go up like crazy. I sent my TA an E-Mail to put Allure on a hold for me for May 8th and May 22nd 2016 since I was not sure which one I wanted. She went and thank goodness put them on hold since 1 hour later they both went up over $100.00 for a GS. I decided to go with the May 8th and already received my invoice with the original price.

Actually....we called in 10 days AFTER we booked our cruise at the lowest rate to date (and during the BOGO sale), and THEN they applied our Balcony discount in addition (which further lowered the price).

I did that also, I saved $1000 for both of us. However my TA took away

"With this lower rate, you will no longer be receiving $125.00 shipboard credit for the cabin. You will still be receiving pre paid gratuities for the first and second guests in the cabin coming from Cr***n as well as the dinner for two in a specialty restaurant valued at $60.00 for the cabin"

That's still a good deal from the TA. I would not be disappointed.

Maybe 'mad' is a bit strong, just disappointed they took something away just due to a price drop.

The perks that the TA gives you come largely from their commission. If the price goes down $1000, they lose a significant portion of their commission, so they have less to work with.

Spoke with a Brand Specialist last night...... About a number of things. First off, while just in a whim yesterday, I checked one of my reservations (to see if I had in fact booked it with the BOGOHO sale.... I had not. BUT! I went to look at the payment history... I had booked it with the Platinum Balcony Discount & The Senior Discount originally.... The "Senior Discount" had been dropped!!! This is what I learned when I called... She was no longer able to "grab" the Senior Discount rate code & neither was her supervisor, but (because they were already closed for the day) she sent the "Revenue Dept" an email & promised the Senior Discount would be reinstated by them. They will email me (she said) in 24-48 hrs. Fingers crossed.

That said... I asked about loosing the BOGOHO price if someone were to change something on their reservation ..... She said here's the deal..... The reservation system has changed & they (reps) used to be able to go back & grab the codes to put back in a reservation if a change was made.... Now that has to be done by the "Revenue Dept". She said not to worry.... As long as you have a history showing what your original codes were... They will reinstate them.... It's just not as easy as it used to be. So...... Sounds to me as if there is no reason to worry about loosing the sale price if you make a change to a reservation.

Also she said they are hiring a lot of new people to help with all the calls. She said they are all still training in class, but will soon be on duty.

Hope this helps ....

Yes I noticed that I got no dicount for senior, but these prices are so good, we booked 2 cruises for 2015 and most likely will book one for 2016 later today. Really want to get to double diamond and that should get us close

Since I was the one that asked about the wording I thought I would post it.

† Offer applies to sailings departing Jan 1, 2015–Apr. 30, 2016; all stateroom categories. Cruise must be booked May 1-31, 2014 (the “Offer Period”). Offer provides for 50% off cruise fare of second guest booked in the same stateroom as a first guest who books at full fare. All other charges, including, but not limited to, taxes, fees and port expenses, are additional and apply to all guests. Offer is combinable with standard/full fare rates and Crown & Anchor discounts and benefits. Offer not combinable with restricted rates (including, but not limited to, seniors, residents, military), Interline, Travel Agent Rates, and Net Rates. Offer excludes Quantum and Anthem of the Seas and third and higher occupancy guests. After the Offer Period, the Offer will be removed from the booking if the guest cancels and reinstates the booking, applies a fare change, or changes the ship or sail date of the booking; certain other changes to the booking may also result in removal of the Offer. Offer applies to new individual and named group bookings only. (all of us that had it applied to current bookings know this wasn't true) Offer available to residents of the United States or Canada. Offer is subject to availability and change without notice, capacity controlled, and may be withdrawn at any time. Refer to royalcaribbean.com for complete terms and conditions. Royal Caribbean International reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions and to change or update fares, fees and surcharges at any time without prior notice. © 2014 Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. Ships registry: The Bahamas.

Also I wouldn't doubt if the situation is exactly as SRV Fan discribes, that resolutions has to reapply the rate when certain changes are made. I know when you already have a reduced fare because of a Visa certificate they have to reapply it each time a change is made as well.

I don't believe Royal would risk loosing a booking because of a name change (as long as one name remains the same) or a move in cabins within the same category.
