Do guest staying in the Royal Suite eat with the Captain?

Recommended Posts

Anyone who has stayed in a Royal suite before maybe able to answer this. I was told that if your in the Royal suite you will get to eat with the Captain on one of the formal nights. I was also told that you get met and taken on board by the concierge. You also get flowers and a bottle of wine to welcome you a board.

Thanks

I don't think that it is a guarantee that you eat with the captain, but you do have a very good chance of being invited.

And yes the concierge does meet you and take you to your room,

The Royal Suite guests on our Hawaii/Radiance cruise were at our table in the MDR and did get to eat with the Captain. That one was 11 nights so probably more chance of it than a 7-nighter.

Thanks.I couldn't see how they could guarantee that anyone got an invitation. Do you know if the concierge takes you straight to your suite. As in the past we have been aboard by 11.30am but couldn't get into our room until after 1pm.

Thanks again

We are booked on a 10 night cruise so will be interesting to see if we do get an invite. But it doesn't matter if we do or don't as we will still have a great cruise.

Thanks

I stayed in the Royal Suite on Enchantment on a 4 night cruise and was invited to dine with Captain Ban. I thought about it for a few seconds and ran to the phone to accept. It was a wonderful evening.

As to the concierge, I was not escorted on board by him as I was on the 2nd leg of a back to back. One of the ship's officers took us through customs and back on board. We already had enjoyed the services of the concierge on the previous cruise so he already was aware of our cabin arrangements.

Fingers crossed for you. I think we're still a long way from an invite, and not booking RS until I can capably play the piano.

So we just may get an invite and if we do I am sure it will be a lovely evening.

Did you get any wine or flower in your suite as we were also told that you do.

Thanks

Thanks. We are cruising for our 24th Wedding Anniversary so to dine with the Captain would be a nice bonus.

I am told the piano plays it self .Which is good because I never got past chopsticks.

It's a Player Piano...no skill needed!

I got to sit at it so those brain cells that survived that evening know that, and I played the single piano tune I know: the old "When you say Bud" jingle, but DW would pitch me over after 3 hours of that.

Having it play itself is like doing a ride-along in a race car instead of driving it. :D

You will likely be invited to an officer's cocktail party.

Thankyou,I knew they did the officer's coctail party or a breakfast for suite guest. We had the breakfast on the Radiance I think they were trailing it.It made a nice change from the normal cocktail party.

When we were in the RS on the Explorer we did get a bottle of sparkling wine and a dozen roses. The concierge was coming back from vacation our sailing and was not available to take us on board but I believe it is customary for the concierge to do so. As far as dinner with the captain….NO. I was really disappointed. A pinnacle member in the concierge lounge mentioned getting an invite but not us. He was not the friendliest captain. At the officers cocktail party he mingled with a couple of pinnacles and left. He never came around. All the other officers did. Usually the captain's are quite friendly. Just our luck I guess.

We have stayed in a RS our last three cruises. Only once did the concierge attempt to escort us on the ship but by the time we got there, he was busy. Also, only once were we invited to dine with the captain. I think it is hit and miss on both.

Royal Suite (Mariner and Navigator) last two Decembers.

Escorted on the ship (both times) as well as off the ship (one time).

When escorted on we went directly to the Royal Suite.

Invited to dinner with the captain both times.

Your results will depend on who the concierge is and who the captain is.

Rhapsody invited top suite guests only the last time we were onboard.

Was on RH first Alaska cruise and was invited. Only D+ and was staying in an outside cabin. However it was the 3rd leg of a B2B2B from Sydney.

Thankyou Nice to know about the flowers and wine.

On the Voyager we found the Captain only talked to the pinnacle members. We were only Emerald at the time so didn't make the cut. On the Radiance the Captain and officers made sure they did the round of the room. And treated first time cruiser as if they were pinnacle.

Thankyou everyone. It looks like it depends on the Concierge and how busy he is if we will be escorted onto the ship. And it seem to be hit and miss if you get an invite to the Captain dinner. So we will just have to wait to see if we get an invite or not.We will have a great time either way. Thanks:)

We stayed in the RS on Enchantment and did not have an escort to our suite - but John Travolta was next door.

We also dined with the captain on a cruise where we stayed in a GS.

I also think it's a hit or miss.

In your case it sounds like the concierge may have been busy making sure other guest were happy.

From past experience, it is up to the Concierge, or GSM to escort you aboard, if you have the RS. Some do, and some do not.

And staying in the RS does not guarantee you a seat at the captains table.

The captain, along with the Maitre'd will come up with a list for those invited to dine with the captain.

The adult guests in the RS will definitely be invited to the Suite party, which, today, the Hotel Director tries to make unique.

Since this is a special occasion, it never hurts to ask the Concierge to pass on your request, but please don't be offended if you are not invited. Let's hope that you are!!

Enjoy your cruise!:)
