This Is why I would like to here from someone who has cruised since the new prices went into effect.

 

With the old prices, a day 2 purchase was no issue.

 

Since the new prices were announced and then implemented I have not seen anything DEFINITIVE to debunk or confirm the rumors about the program not being for sale on day 2.

 

I'll ditto that. We have only 2 weeks until our cruise and I would rather wait until the 2nd day to buy and want to know if that's still possible.

Got off the Freedom on 9-1. Used match play everyday! You do have to ask for your receipt. Do not know about 2nd day purchase as we purchased as soon as we were on the ship at 12 noon. Loved the new price! Definitely will purchase again in November on the Breeze.

 

Match play worked the same way on Liberty.

I don't want to buy until day 2 because my liver won't handle 8 straight days of heavy drinking. I would rather only do 7...plus it will save me a little money. Will bring some wine for first day.

If you drink wine the first day your liver is still going to have 8 straight days of alcohol.

you can buy it on the second day but they tool out the money savings part of it. I others words you pay the same as you would have on the 1st day. This is what I found out on the 8-10 sailing of the Legend. Now this was the 1st week and 1st sailing for the Legend with the new pricing so things could of changed.

I'm currently in my balcony on the Breeze and have asked one person in guest services and 2 different bar tenders in the casino and they all stated the cheers package CAN be purchased on the 2nd day. WOW!!!! I just got off the phone with GS on the ship and they said I can buy it tomorrow (the 2nd day) and she said that if I buy it tomorrow any alcoholic drink I purchase today (the 1st day would be reimbursed)!!!!!! WOW!!!!!

I'm a stickler for details so I will take a walk down to GS and ask one more time to confirm this.

We're already moving and I don't think I will be able to post my answer from my 2nd inquiry but sounds good so far!

8 days of Cheers but only pay for 7? THANK YOU CARNIVAL!!!!

Another poster said they could buy it the 2ed day but had to pay the full price,

The last poster on the Breeze said you could buy it on the 2ed day and they will credit back your drinks. I'm thinking if they did that she will pay for all 8 days.

I'm wanting to buy the 2ed day to pay 1 less day. EX 6 instead of 7 days,

We won't be getting on our ship till around 8 PM the first day, not a lot of drinking time left.

Let us know if this happens. People have said over and over again that drinks purchased the prior day are not credited since you did not pay for that day. I don't think you get a free day of drinking or everyone would buy day 2. :rolleyes:

I'm currently in port in Puerto Rico, first chance I have gotten to post so here's what happened:

Like I said, I was told my GS on the phone I can purchase on day 2 and be charged for 7 days instead of 7.

After we sailed away I went to ask in person at GS and received a different answer. I was told that even I I purchased day 2, I would pay for 8 days. The gentleman at GS said that the system is set up to charge for the duration of the cruise. : /

So what me and my GF decided to do was go about the 1st day as if we had cheers without having purchased cheers. In other words, we are either going to pay for 8 days of cheers and not have used it for 1 day or drink as if we have cheers and be credited the drinks and only pay 7 days. I hope that makes sense.

So we bought it on day 2 from the casino bar and paid $603.78. Drinks purchased on day 1 still show up on my account and have not been refunded.

So you paid for 7 days instead of 8. I find it hard to think that they will give you those first day drinks for free.

 

Curious to know if you spent more than $37.50 for drinks the first day.

Cheers package can work for easier/ quicker when you mix and match drinks with different price points throughout the day. Some drinks you need less of to break even. Use the attached excel spreadsheet at the bottom to determine if the CHEERS program is good for you.

 

ALL ADULTS in your cabin must purchase the program and will be charged for the FULL length of the cruise.

Drinks purchased prior to purchasing CHEERS are charged at regular price + 15% gratuity

(they are not retro after you purchase the program)

 

COLUMN H updating the number of cruise days

COLUMN G will break down your break even qty

 

Sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails are unlimited and not counted towards the 15 drink limit per day, but are added up to help you to BREAK EVEN for the cost you are spending.

Beverages included in the package are:

• All spirits, including cocktails and frozen drinks, as well as beer and wine by the glass with a $10.00 or lower menu price

• Sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails

In addition, guests who purchase CHEERS! are entitled to:

• 25% discount off the menu price for bottled water

• 25% discount off the menu price for any spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink

• 25% discount off the menu price for wine and champagne by the bottle

Beverages excluded from the package are:

• Non-alcoholic beverages other than soda and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails

• Beverages promoted and sold in souvenir glasses

• Bottles of liquor

• Beverage purchases made on Half Moon Cay or Little Stirrup Cay in The Bahamas

• Bottled water (offered at a 25% discount)

• Wine and champagne by the bottle (offered at a 25% discount)

• All spirits or wine above $10.00 per drink (offered at a 25% discount – drinks count toward the 15 drink total per 24 hour period)

• Beverages offered at gangway while debarking

• Beverages offered through room service as well as mini bars and/or other in-stateroom beverage packages

• Sharing cocktails, floaters, pitchers, tubes and buckets

• Beverages offered through Enomatic wine machines

• Coffee beverages and food items

• All other beverage-related packages including cookbooks and bar books, beverage seminars and classes, as well as cigars

One of the reasons the CHEERS program is not available on day 1 is because you are still at a US PORT so the 15% per drink tax is still activated. Each ship would be different as to when you are out of US waters, (ie New Orleans, TX vs FL ports) I believe this is why they also only start selling the packages on Day 2. They DO NOT retro the drinks purchased while in a US port as well as benefit from everyone rushing on board to grab their first drinks. You may actually benefit by purchasing a Bottle of liquor via the IN ROOM GIFT SHOP - SAIL AWAY beverage program which you can share among others in your cabin.

 

 

TEXAS

• Due to Texas State laws, CHEERS! will not be offered until the second day of the cruise for voyages departing from our Texas home ports. In this case, please know the daily rate will be based on the full cruise duration price but only charged from day 2 forward. Guests may purchase drinks in the usual manner.
