MaiTaiMary Posted September 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 21, 2014 My kids usually go to bed pretty early, but I thought occurred to me that on the cruise, they might be so amped up that they'll want to stay up later. :D So after 10:00pm, there is a charge? What kind of things do they do after 10:00p? My kids will be in the 6-8 year old room and 9-11 year old room. I wouldn't imagine they would stay for very long, but might give it a shot. Thanks. :)
topofE Posted September 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 21, 2014 Just got off the dream. My kid was in the 6-8 group but I believe the "night owls" include them and the 9-11. It was ~$20. 6.50+15% every hour and went from 10-1. They had movies and games and stuff. The schedules activities were in the fun times.
goofygal531 Posted September 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 21, 2014 There are two evening options: Night Owls: evening childcare until 3am offered daily Fun to One Parties: 10pm-1am $13 per child plus 15% grat My boys love the Fun to One parties! They are themed. Movies are shown, pizza and snacks are served. They also receive backpacks full of goodies. on a 7 day sailing, they offer two nights of parties. jburk Posted September 21, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2014 My kids are early birds -- usually asleep by 8 pm. I had to drag them out of that place in the wee hours of the morning! Both of them! 2 years later they still talk about what fun they had. They did the themed parties. Movies, games, snacks, etc. They get a little backpack of goodies -- notebook, stuffed owl, pen, etc. I think the latest they stayed was 1:30 am....and they were upset we came to pick them up. keerle Posted September 21, 2014 #5 Share Posted September 21, 2014 I spent more on my DS night owls than my drinks. We had to drag her out every night Sent from my iPad using Forums
michaelandjoanne Posted September 21, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 21, 2014 My son 6 loved the midnight and fun to one parties. It was $20 for the three hours and the bag of of stuff they get is worth the money too. I only sent him to the three theme nights we had on our 8 day cruise. When we talk about our next cruise it is the thing he is most excited about. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Cruise life Posted September 22, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 22, 2014 We hardly ever do this because our kids are whiny when they are tired the next day. Hawaii was tough due to the 6 hour time change being east coasters. They SAY they want to stay, but getting all the paint washed off them (they almost always do face painting) takes at least half an hour. They are hyped up on sugar (they get treats) but they do have fun. Depending on comedy show times, we will do this one night out of the cruise to make it worth it for us instead of just hanging out in a club drinking or dancing. MaiTaiMary Posted September 22, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted September 22, 2014 I’m confused. The “Night Owls” is offered every night? 10:00pm - 3:00am. This is just basically an extension of Camp Carnival, but with a fee? And the “Fun to One” Parties are 10:00pm - 1:00am and are offered twice during a 7 night cruise? These are theme parties? Only the “Fun to One” parties give the backpack goodie bags? Both of these options are available for the 6-8 year olds and the 9-11 year olds? Leyann Posted October 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 12, 2014 Each night is a different plan. Go to this page http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1829051 and scroll down to post #14. It's the Camp Carnival Schedule for the Liberty but even if your on another ship, it will give you an idea. You can also search this forum for the Camp Carnival pages for your ship if you want to see what they will do for the kids on your trip. For example: Sunday is Night Owls (10pm-3am) You'll pay the hourly charge plus gratuity. I believe they round it to the nearest 15 min during the hour also. Monday is a Party until 12am so you'd pay the party price ($13 +grat) and then if you kept the kids there after 12, you'd pay the hourly rate. Athankfulheart Posted October 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 13, 2014 Our kids did the party nights only. There are planned activities during the parties that do not happen on the other nights and its loads more fun. Think party vs babysitter. I found the party nights to be worth the costs. The only disappointment for my kids was that they received night owls toothbrushes that were more for the 2-5 set than the 7-11 group. They enjoyed the pens, flashlights, bags, owls etc... They also received a nice hard covered book called " Freddy gets his sea legs". I wouldn't suggest a party night if you have a very early excursion the next morning - depending on what your kids are like under those circumstances. mpcaruth Posted October 13, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 13, 2014 (edited) My daughter LOVED the late night parties (she was 7 to 11 years old). It may have been her favorite part of the cruise. She felt "grown up" and independent. They had games, activities, snacks, etc. One time they went to the Comedy Club after the final showing and played hide and seek there - she still talks about how much fun this was. The exact activities probably depend on the number of kids, the ship, and the youth crew. A little after 1:00 AM, while the rest of us were asleep, they escorted my daughter back to our cabin. She always had a stash of Carnival goodies and trinkets, including a flashlight. She was always so hyped up that she played with her goodie stash for a while under the flashlight before falling asleep. There is a difference between the "Night Owls" and the late night party. Others have already commented on this above. I say, if your child loves Camp Carnival, then paying for them to go to a late night party is worth it! Steamboat Holly Posted October 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 13, 2014 How do I find out if the parties are held on our 4 night Imagination cruise? I think my little ones would really enjoy it! mpcaruth Posted October 13, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 13, 2014 We sailed a 5 day cruise on the Fascination and they had a party on one night. I would think there would be a party on the 4 night cruise as well. Try searching for Camp Carnival schedules/ funtimes. As an example, here is the schedule from our cruise: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_oyujRZr-k4dWoxeW9PYThXVTQ/edit?usp=sharing

loveysbydesign Posted October 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted October 14, 2014 If they want to do the party but are tired and want to leave at like midnight instead of 1 would they call our room? or would it be up to us to check on them to see if they're ready to leave? My son is 7 and is asleep every night by 9 and up at 7 and since we are sailing a week after the time change...fall back an hour...I'm wondering how he'd be. Cruise life Posted October 15, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 15, 2014 i would think this is on ALL cruises-- but becareful with what is happening the next day. if you have early plans please rethink that night owl or party camps for your kids My kids ALWAYS wanted to stay on party nights. We discovered that if we let them stay up they were miserable the next day. It's not worth it to us to let them miss sleep, so we tend to go to bed early and get up early just like our usual schedule. In Hawaii we did stay up on Luau night but only long enough to get a bite at the midnight buffet after dancing, then straight to bed! Slept in late the next day to make up for it as much as we could. If kids are used to staying up, or do well on less sleep, you will be fine, but none of us does well on reduced sleep. Naps can sometimes make up for it, but you have to plan on them. cruizinisthebest Posted October 15, 2014 #21 Share Posted October 15, 2014 On both of our cruises with the kids so far, my son stayed in camp late every night other than a few - and that's because we had an early morning the next day. They will ask for your kids s&s card and walk them back to the cabin. They also asked to see my card when I opened the door to pick them up, which I thought was fantastic. Camp Ocean doesn't have the night theme parties, but the regular Camp Carnival does. After 10pm otherwise it's games and movies. The little ones can nap if they like. I always used the ship's phones throughout the public areas to check on my kids once or twice if we weren't near the Camp location. Otherwise, we would just walk up and peak in on them at the t.v. monitors.
