Confused re: Shampoo

Recommended Posts

i call the shampoo/conditioner dispenser 'mystery soap' ... if you have nothing, use that. if your room doesn't have them, your ninja room steward will get some for you. if that fails, head to the gift shop onboard and buy some...or....If you like your creature comforts from home-absolutely bring/pack them. :) you have a lot of options here :)

i don't typically check a bag or pack any toiletries. i make a list (well, like all organized control-freak cruisers-- i have a laminated list that i bring) -- i love strolling thru a walgreens/cvs and picking up the toiletries and goodies before I go to the port. this helps me not 'stress out' for the little things i may have forgotten. and gives me some time to pick up some of the mini-bar items at a much cheaper price. nothing like a snickers at 2 am after stumbling in from the casino...but at $5 each (or whatever they are charging now)...I spent @ $1. i usually buy a back-up pair of sunglasses too...since i have been known to leave/forget/lose mine each cruise. hahaa

Ok, so if I followed along correctly, JS on Allure will provide shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel (not bar soap) in mini's all week? If that's the case, I will take mine back out of the suit case. It adds weight when every ounce counts.

Too be clear, I don't want the mystery stuff. :)

The JS will provide two bars of soap, in addition to the separate containers of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and lotion.

Was told the reason for getting rid of soap/shampoo dispensers was that most women bring their own shampoo so it was not being utilised enough.

LOL Another BS excuse from RCL. Soon they will be telling us they do not supply toilet paper because most people are wearing diapers . The cut backs on Royal have gotten pathetic.

That is ridiculous. The stuff they provided even dries out my husbands hair. I won't even use the free stuff they give in hotels. I donate them.

It is not ridiculous, cut backs add up and many are getting sick of it. I rather they charge a little more instead of the phony stories about why they are cutting back.

Then maybe the solution should be for RCL to supply a better quality shampoo instead of getting rid of it in the first place. I'm sure nobody at RCL has thought of that . Its a cutback in disguise plain and simple.

Well guess what, when it comes to hair types one size does not fit all. If you polled most women they would say they bring their own. And the price increase would be more than the few dollars I pay for my personal toiletries.

On Vision a few months ago my cabin did NOT have the shampoo dispenser. Thank the hair gods, I bring my own. Not sure if it's part of the cut backs or if my cabin just didn't have it.

The last passenger probably ripped it off the wall in disgust. ;) :D

Had a CL suite on Allure.

Small individual one use tubes of the Gilchrist and Soames products.....

Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel as well as skin lotion were provided in both bathrooms, twice daily.

Some days we had 3 of each placed on the counter.

I came home with over 30 of each product:D.

She keep me refreshed till we sail again in August.....

unless that is taken away with cutbacks.

Sea Ya

HOLY MOLY!!!!!

How much product do you use at once?

ONE USE BOTTLES????

Are you freakin' kidding me?

They were in our cabin when we arrived on the Explorer a couple weeks ago. Didn't have to ask. Don't know if it is because we are D+, or we just had a great cabin steward. BTW, we were in an inside cabin.....no suite. Didn't use them anyway because I always bring my own. But still appreciated it.

If I don't get any on my Nov. cruise, I will ask, just to see if I get them. I should have tried them to see if I liked them, then I wouldn't have to bring my own.

Gwen :)

Same thing happened to me on the Enchantment last week, in an interior. I would say from the preponderance of evidence that it's the D+ thing. ;)

We had an ocean view on the Explorer, and were provided with a dispenser in the shower, and 2 bars of soap. Since I have color treated hair, I brought my own shampoo.

We also brought our own shower gel.

sssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. We don't say that out loud. ;) :D

LOL - that is exactly what I thought! They were not tiny bottles. Our steward kept leaving us new ones daily even thought we still had them. I use my own shampoo that I love but the conditioner and lotion were nice.

Well guess what! Women are not the only ones that cruise and if you polled most men they would say they do not bring their own. So you see it works both ways. Oh and there should NOT be an increase for something they have always supplied in the first place. Call it what you want but it is a cutback! CYA nice talking to ya. :D

It makes some convoluted sense. You can absolutely still get "decent" shampoo in a little bottle just by asking. MOST people won't ask, so they can afford to have decent stuff for those who do. Just ask your cabin steward for the "Gilchrist & Soames" toiletries. :)

No need to be so rude. If you wouldn't look her in the eye and say this, then you shouldn't type it and hit "submit."
