Two Cruises, Two Ships, Separated By a Day

We disembark from the Ruby Princess in FLL on November 3 and depart FLL on the Royal Princess the next day. A hotel is booked for the one night we spend as landlubbers.

It sure would be nice if there were some way we could just hit the hotel with an overnight bag, leaving the larger stuff at the cruise terminal tagged and ready to load the next morning. I sure hate schlepping big bags around.

Has anyone successfully done something like this? If so, how is it organized?

Our experience a couple of years ago was that we needed to take all of our luggage over to the Renaissance where we were staying for the night. The good news is that they had a room ready for us when we arrived. However, we vowed never to do that again....packing, moving and unpacking is just a pain.

Another problem might be that while Royal is the only Princess ship in port on 11/4/14, On 11/3, when Ruby returns, there are two Princess ship: Regal and Ruby. So, you might debark Ruby on the 3rd at a different pier than you embark Royal the next day. EM

That's true as well. I'm giving up that there's an easy way to avoid schlepping all the bags. Like Putterdude, we might not do this again, and we haven't even experienced the pain yet.

Our issue was we wanted to do the Quebec to FLL cruise to knock the Canada/New England itinerary off our list. However, we've gotten hooked on longer cruises and Ruby's next cruise was only a five day shortie. The opportunity to try the Royal and visit a couple of new ports overcame the pain of overnighting on land. Maybe we can figure out how to pack lighter ...

On that note, we understand the Regal is in port for her official naming ceremony by the Love Boat cast and she'll still be there on the 4th. We'll get to see both of Princess' newest ships at the same time. Fun!
