calex Posted October 3, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 3, 2014 Just curious if anyone has been involved in a Slot Pull with a Roll Call group and actually hit a BIG JACKPOT? What did the group win and how was it split up?
sebas030 Posted October 4, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 4, 2014 I went to 2 of them. Like it was stated in an other thread, the casino manager opened the machine and pushed a few buttons inside of it, closed it and put the credit in it.... Was that some kind of reset? Did he changed the odds ? Anyways, the most we ever won was just enough to get our money back...no more no less. Will do one again in 3 weeks...maybe we wont notify the casino manager and do it on our own...

I noticed the same thing on 2 that I attended, seemed like maybe we shouldn't have had it set up by anyone, just should have all strolled in and loaded our money in on our own. At both that I attended we were just about out when we would hit for maybe just enough for us to each take another pull (not very much) and then we lost it all again, seemed like there should have been a few more hits with that much money in, even though I don't really go into it thinking we will win the jackpot, it would be a bit more fun to hit a few teasers!! Edit: Actually just noticed you are going on the Dawn, that is the ship we went to our last slot pull on, wheel of fortune, no so fortune friendly!! puddles99 Posted October 4, 2014 #6 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Our group doubled our money on the Gem last fall but didn't do well at all on Breakaway - oh well; it was still fun! Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
aces389 Posted October 4, 2014 #7 Share Posted October 4, 2014 Look on it as a social gathering with everyone cheering each other on. That way you won't be disappointed with the outcome. Have fun.:)

wvfrogg Posted October 4, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 4, 2014 On the Epic, we had 18 (I think) doing the slot pull. Everyone put in $15, and I think we each ended up with $40. I hit for $500 (and sort of silently cried over that one as it became part of the pot!). We just let the money stay in until everyone had finished their 3 pulls, and then we split the proceeds. It was fun. The next time on the Pearl I think we pretty much broke even.
nanagirl Posted October 4, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 4, 2014 We are planning a slot pull and I was wondering if there is any reason the group could not pick their own machine? I am not planning to go thru NCL based on what I've read here....;)
Calico Jack Sparrow Posted October 4, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 4, 2014 That seems so strange that the casino manager touched something inside the machine before you played?

I am not planning to go thru NCL based on what I've read here....;) We picked our own machine on the breakaway. We each put in $15 at a time did our 5 pulls each at the end we still have a few bucks in so we just finished it out. Had a lot of fun cheering. No need to have the casino set it up. OceanDreaming2 Posted October 4, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) The last time we did a slot pull, the casino host was there but I don't know that they "did" anything to the machine. We all received a complimentary drink from the casino. I think we broke even on the slot pull. It's always fun, win or lose. On a Transatlantic, I believe we had 3 different slot pulls. :p Edited October 4, 2014 by OceanDreaming2
azappraiser Posted October 5, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 5, 2014 (edited) On the Gem in Jan 2013, we had 20 people signed up for our slot pull; we played a Wheel of Fortune machine. One of our players hit for $500 and I hit for another $100 on the last pull. Overall, we all walked away with our initial $20 + another $25 per person. A portion of the total winnings also went to the player with the biggest single pull. Edited October 5, 2014 by azappraiser
wvfrogg Posted October 5, 2014 #16 Share Posted October 5, 2014 There are a couple of advantages of going through the casino host. 1) they will turn off a machine in advance so that you can have the machine you want - usually where it is easy to have 20 people or so standing around. I'm sure all they were doing was turning the machine back on when the slot pull started. And 2) they gave us 2 bottles of wine - one red and one white. The slot pull "chairperson" can keep them if he/she wants. When I set up the slot pull, I gave first choice to the highest total pull, and gave the other to the second highest. I know on another cruise, the "chairperson" kept the wine for himself, which is fine too.

Rare mitsugirly Posted October 7, 2014 #19 Share Posted October 7, 2014 I'm not sure what they do when they open up the machine since I have never participated on one of the roll call slot pulls. However, just throwing this out there... If you have ever watch any of the casino's slot play tournaments, they do the same thing. But the machines are all lined up along the wall and they open them and do something to them (and it actually makes everyone playing play the same game even if it wasn't the exact same game on each machine to begin with). I have read many reports on slot play machines and from what I have read, it takes A LOT to reprogram a machine and the stuff that goes into it isn't just a simple "open up the machine and flip a switch type of thing". There are so many threads that ask about if you think that they increase the chances of winning in the beginning of the cruise to get people wanting to come in and play and then decrease the winnings toward the end and from what I've read, they would have to shut down a casino for hours to fix the machines to change the odds. So, I don't think the staff is actually flipping a switch and decreasing your odds of winning. JMO. :)
HokiePoq Posted October 7, 2014 #20 Share Posted October 7, 2014 Usually if you inform the casino manager of the CC slotpull thing, he/she will provide a drink per paying pax. Sent from my iPhone using Cruise Critic Forums mobile app We've done a couple of preorganized pulls....no drinks ever. Maybe whoever was organizing these was a casino customer of high standing. We've never broken even, either, much less won. Amount lost was same each time. DH says that's the house odds and won't do it again even though I thought it was fun. Now if a drink had been included, he might feel differently, lol.

bg853 Posted October 7, 2014 #22 Share Posted October 7, 2014 I have run two slot pulls both on the Jewel when it was out of New York. One we came out even and one everyone won about 25 each. There were two more advantages doing it through the casino. Everyone got to sign up for their Casino at Sea cards if they wanted them at that time. And the nicest for me, the host arranged the exact change prize money for each participant. In both cases the host had asked me prior whether we wanted the $1 Wheel of Fortune, as that is the preferred machine and when we got there for the pull all three Wheel of Fortune machines were blocked off for our choice of which one to use. Davechipp74 Posted October 7, 2014 #23 Share Posted October 7, 2014 My last cruise (17 day Panama Canal) one person won $500. I dont remember how many played, but we didn't have to pay much into it at all. it was great fun, We had a few slot pulls played throughout the cruise.
