Is it possible to cash a check onboard for tips etc?

I would be surprised if they would cash a check. You could withdraw money from the ATM on board.

 

You can probably draw cash from your on-board account PROVIDED IT IS IN CREDIT. It would be in credit if you have an on-board credit from your booking conditions or if you put money on your account before the cruise.

Best to take some extra cash. You know you'll always need "walking around money"! :D

I'm sure I have read in the past that they don't do this, but maybe someone else can give definite information.

They use to cash Traveler's Checks but the last time I did this was maybe 8 years ago. Never heard of them cashing personal checks.

Right. Princess has never cashed personal checks but they will cash travelers checks. Very few banks and companies accept travelers checks any more. You are far better off bringing cash. I bring a few $50 bills which can be exchanged for small bills on the ship.

Like Pam, I bring large denomination US bills. I take them to the front desk and have them changed for smaller denominations.
