NCL Breakaway early arrival to Nassau

I didn't know they were doing that type of thing and arriving earlier in the ports. I thought they were spending time at sea when they can't tender.

I was just surprised they decided to go strait to Nassau and arrive 16h earlier than the planned date/time.

Yes, that is fairly common that they go the night before if they miss GSC. We missed it in March. GeriC/FootballParent is on again and missed it with us in March so she is 0 for 0. We are 1 for 2.

Usually they got into Nassau around 6 p.m. and by that time most places are closed other than the bars. We walked off the ship for a quick stroll and not surprisingly ran into a lady yelling at people as we walked back to the ship to get our hair braided and tell them Sally sent you (can't recall her actual name but the kids still laugh about it).

I should have said she is 0 for 2.

It seems it's missed GSC every week this month. When it missed it on our cruise 3 weeks ago, we headed straight for Nassau arriving around 3pm. It seems it happens more often than not.

The time Breakaway arrives in Nassau always depends on other ships in port there. I was on the sailing which was scheduled for GSC on Nov. 19 and we finally arrived at 08:00pm, because there were 4 ships in port and three had to leave before us between 06-07pm so that we could dock. We ended up going with 2 knots from GSC to Nassau and even this was too fast and we made a big circle right before we arrived.

Can they run the casino while they are in port like this?

I always thought that they could not and need to be in international water to run the casino. If they are in Nassau 16h earlier than planned does that mean the casino is closed for such a long time?

Maybe the rules have changed and they can open the casino while in ports... I don't no.

On our cruise when we entered Nassau port day early, they got special permission to open the on board shops and the casino at 7pm ( or maybe 8pm?) and casino remained open all night. I'll bet NCL would make a diff decision on pulling in early if that permission were not granted. Cha-Ching.

? The ship will never "go directly to Nassau". It will stay on course to private island weds morning when a tender/no tender decision will be made. If it's a no go, they will head to Nassau ( as you are taunted sailing slowly past the island waving bye-bye) and port there at some point weds afternoon/ evening as king as a dock is available. They will remain there until the scheduled Nassau depart time Thursday evening. ( I assume a huge weather event such as a hurricane might change this. The above is for "typical" windy, bad weather not some extraordinary circumstance)

Breakaway made GSC on the 11/9 sailing. Sounds like that might have been the last time?

Yes, Robin has the dates right. We were on the nov 26 sailing and we made it. We went back to the ship on the last tender and we had a really rough time to get onboard. The water was really choppy.

Haha thanks, I somehow missed Robin's chart.

Good luck to those sailing these next few weeks. We really enjoyed GSC!
