I am currently looking for a hotel in SJ. It seems hotel and reasonable, does Not go together in this city. :) I have searched hotels.com and travelocity, and travelocity gives you a lot more choices. The Intercontinental is 4 stars, and sounds very nice. The pictures look lovely, and it appears to be on a gorgeous beach. Has anyone actually stayed at this particular hotel? Do you recommend it?

We stayed there in April 2003 for 1 night before our Radiance Cruise. The hotel is very, very nice; however, it is expensive. The pool & beach are awesome, but the food is pricy. It is walking distance to Wal Greens, the casino was great too.

We are leaving in 1 1/2 weeks on the Adventure and are staying at the Hampton Inn & Suites for much less then what we paid for the InterContinental. You should also check out the Rtiz Carlton which sometimes has specials for $140 a night and the Embassy Suites that is right there in Isla Verde also. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thanks hardingk, glad to hear that the hotel lives up to its advertising. :) Did you have a balcony with your room? What could you see from it? They have a rate of $149 for a balcony room, with a city view. I didn't think that was too too bad,for SJ.

I stayed at the Intercontinental last March before a charter cruise on the Constellation. It is a very nice hotel. Far from Old San Juan but with a beautiful pool area and beach. $149 is a good deal. I was on the city side with a balcony... you will be looking over some kinda ugly rooftops as the hotel is the tallest thing around, but it is fine. Also you'll see planes on final approach to the airport.

We had a blacony room that faced the ocean. It was a beautiful view and I have pics of it if you want to see!! $149 is a great rate & worth it. Maybe they will upgrade you to an oceanview when you get there if you ask.

Hardingk, I would love to see a picture(s) of your room at the InterContinental.

We are staying there for a week post cruise after our 4/8/06 Serenade cruise. We will be cruising with 16 of our family members and look forward to a relaxing week with just our family (sorry mom LOL) in SJ.

What is your e-mail address? I just have 2 pictures of the view from our balcony. The rest in the album are from our cruise. But it will show you how pretty everything is there.

I stayed at the Inter-Continental last summer for a pre-night cruise stay and was very happy with it. The hotel is beautiful. I don't remember the price we paid but I know we booked it through their web site and it was a web deal which I thought was reasonable.

We endend up with the Intercontinetal through Hotwire for about 100 for the night. Great hotel and we even ended up with a balcony room overlooking the ocean. As previous posters have said the pool is beatiful as well as the beach but it is very expensive for food and drink. At $149 I dont think you'll be upset.

I didn't stay ther but while at the El San Juan Hotel next door in 2002 we used to go to the intercontinental for breakfast. It is expensive, but we stayed at the caribe hilton this year for the aos and that was expensive also. This is a good choice.

Thanks everybody for all the great replies. I'm so glad that the hotel lives up to its advertising, and sounds like it's beach pics are also right on. :)

hardingk, I would love to see your pics of your room. My email addy is in my profile. Travelocity didn't offer any rooms that said ocean view, but the prices started at $149 and went up to around $219,and still said just city view. So the ocean view ones must be $$$. Once we check in,I'll ask if they have any ocean view avaliable. Maybe we'll get lucky. What can they say, except either no,or sure but it'll cost you another 150 bucks, which I wouldn't do. LOL.

We recieved a city view room after gettting the hotel from a bid on hotwire. When we checked in we were given an ocean view room with a balcony without even asking. Guess it just depends how busy they are. Good luck!!
