serene56 Posted December 30, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I would go to Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk before Freeport and Nassau

ccleveland Posted December 30, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Wow you guys rock!! Well I wanted to do the paradise for caribbean cruise in Feb but looks like plans might change and I might have to do a 4 day bahamas cruise. Do you guys think I should try and stick with the 5 day western caribbean cruise (cozmel and grand cYman Islands been to both) or just do the 4 or 5 day bahamas cruise on the fascination or fantasy

poison7fl Posted December 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 30, 2014 (edited) I would go to Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk before Freeport and Nassau I would go to any Island before Nassau or Freeport! ;) I did just book a steal to Freeport, Nassau, and Half Moon Cay, and won't be doing anything anywhere except Half Moon Cay. Freeport is a dead island. Nassau is OK for beach trips and junky t-shirts. One time and you'll never want to go back though. Kinda like Cozumel, less the attractions. I love Grand Cayman, but dislike Cozumel (I do like Chankanaab Park though and Mayan Ruins at Tulum) Edited December 30, 2014 by poison7fl
love my grandkids Posted December 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Would also try for itinerary that skips Freeport and Nassau. on our first cruise we went to Freeport and highlight of our tour was the 15 minute nap I took.
radgal72 Posted December 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I would avoid Nassau and Freeport. If I found a great deal on a cruise or if the only cruise I could go on during my time off included those ports I would still go and just stay on the ship. Rare Tapi Posted December 30, 2014 #11 Share Posted December 30, 2014 I'll take Freeport before I take Nassau. What an overcrowded dump! OP: Nassau is unfortunately a necessary evil on short Bahamas cruises. As others have said, at least try to find an itinerary that goes to Half Moon Cay as well. MCC retired Posted December 30, 2014 #12 Share Posted December 30, 2014 Do a short Western Caribbean instead to avoid Nassau and Freeport . Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
ccleveland Posted December 31, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Ya im looking at a cozmel and grand cayman islands on paradise or maybe the cormel and progresso off the elation. I might just might try royal caribbean only because i have been to cozmel 2 times and this cruise is strictly just to get away and not really do any excursions so maybe trying royal will be fun? I heard carnival is much better though :) Any opinions on what i mentioned? :(

The4Cruisers Posted December 31, 2014 #15 Share Posted December 31, 2014 If you can find an itinerary that includes Half Moon Cay, it makes it a little easier to tolerate stops at Nassau or Freeport. My family decided no more cruises with Nassau or Freeport. So, we're exploring new itineraries this year.

I would stick with the Paradise as Grand Cayman and Cozumel are both great. Stay away from Freeport and Progresso! misslucy01 Posted December 31, 2014 #17 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Out of Charleston on The Fantasy they do Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk and Nassau. Recently added Dominican Republic, Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. Both are 7 days. Pretty sweet itineraries in my opinion!! Misslucy01
Rare Tapi Posted December 31, 2014 #18 Share Posted December 31, 2014 I heard carnival is much better though :) It depends on who you ask and on which board you ask. While I wouldn't turn down a Canival cruise, if given the option I would pick Royal. I consider them to be a few notches better than Carnival. Our last Royal cruise was actually to the Bahamas from Pt. Canaveral. Feel free to click on my review (Enchantment of the Seas) for more details and photos. Silverman Posted December 31, 2014 #20 Share Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Maybe this will help you decide. As of 1-1-15 The Bahamas will be charging a 7.5 % vat tax. Edited December 31, 2014 by Silverman

tphitman Posted December 31, 2014 #22 Share Posted December 31, 2014 As others have stated, Freeport and Nassau are both LAME ports. On these short cruises WESTERN is better! Sent from my iPad using Forums
ejchron Posted December 31, 2014 #23 Share Posted December 31, 2014 We were in Freeport and Nassau last may via the Dream. Worst ports I've ever been to. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks so.

misslucy01 Posted December 31, 2014 #25 Share Posted December 31, 2014 And I think Little Stirrup Cay is now the former Coco Cay that the Fantasy is traveling to....... Misslucy01
