Regal Concierge & Suite Expectations

I have been away from Princess for a while sailing on NCL, RCL & HAL and know what to expcet from them.

I hope that this tread will be able to proivde us real experiences and expectations of what to expcect from Princess now that Concierge service is available on the Regal.

To start this off, here are a few of my questions:

* Does the Concierge contact you prior to boarding via email?

* Can specific dining tables be selected prior to sailing?

* Does Princess escort passengers in "Owners Suites" to thier cabin?

* What Concierge experience on the Regal is unique vs. other lines?

* Anything else included in a Suite on the Regal that is not noted on Princess

Suites Flyer? http://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/ships/PrincessSuite_eFlyer.pdf

Looking forward to hearing from recent Regal passengers :) and reading regular updates.

Thanks!

I'd like to know the answers to those questions as well since we're looking forward to our first suite on Regal.

We have sailed in suites on the Regal and Royal and have not been contacted by the concierge prior to embarkation.

* Can specific dining tables be selected prior to sailing?

We have never requested that, but I do not believe it is a service that is offered.

* Does Princess escort passengers in "Owners Suites" to thier cabin?

No

* What Concierge experience on the Regal is unique vs. other lines?

We sailed in an Owners Suite onboard the Allure of the Seas in 2014. I would say the suite experience on the Allure was heads and shoulders above what we have experienced on Princess. To answer your question, Princess offers nothing unique compared to what we experienced onboard the Allure.

Offerings in the concierge lounge include specialty coffees from a machine that are actually very good. There is also an assortment of snacks, sandwiches, cheeses that are refreshed throughout the day. There are books you can take with you for reading onboard.

We've noticed a number of items listed in the flyer do not actually exist on the Royal or Regal.

I did not expect for one of the first posts to point out that not everything printed is provided... Bummer! Will you please share some of the things that don't exist.

Thanks for participating!

Hey Lew-

Are you in a suite on the Jan. 28 Royal sailing?

We are joining that cruise at the last minute (long story...). I am looking forward to meeting you and some other long-term posters (e.g. Vickie and Bernie and PA) on this cruise!

Yay! We may be neighbors. We are in a PH on the Riviera Deck. It will be nice to finally put faces to names!

Totally agree with what Lew stated. If you pick a holiday cruise, good luck even finding any food or space in the lounge. Large family groups with one member having a suite and they pass their card around so all family members can use it whenever they want. And it is a mob on the last morning. Staff knows what is happening but as usual, they don't confront anyone.

CD/DVD player with access to a complimentary DVD library

Not provided. Admittedly there is video on demand, but no way to play DVDs you may have brought from home

Hot tub in select suites

Not on the Regal or Royal

Select Grand Suites also feature personal computer, wet bar and fireplace

No, no and no

Priority embarkation and disembarkation at tender ports

Yes, when boarding a tender onboard the ship, but not for the return trip

Use of the Lotus Spa Thermal Suite, a communal relaxation center

Doesn't apply to The Enclave on the Royal or Regal

Complimentary flower corsage and boutonniere for your first formal night

Received roses on the Royal, carnations on the Regal

Enhanced turndown service with six decadent chocolate dipped strawberries or wrapped chocolates presented on a silver tray

On formal nights only and never on a silver tray

Could be...

We'll be in a PH on Riviera deck also. I'm sure we'll be seeing each other in the concierge lounge. I usually get 2-3 cappuccinos each morning.

Okay... I understand how you might feel. However, even with the shortcomings I'm still doing 20 days on the Royal in a PH suite embarking two weeks from today and again in 2016.

The Royal and Regal are beautiful ships and PH suites are really quite nice. Although others write glowing reviews about suites on other cruise lines, we really like Princess enough to stay with them. We cruised on Allure because we had our grandson with us while his parents were in Europe and thought he'd really enjoy it...and he did!

Have you cruised on either the Regal or Royal yet?

Nope. I am really looking forward to trying some of the new features. I do love "new ship smell"!

Anything I should know?

There's not much I can add to all the posts here on the Princess board. I think the piazza will impress you...the piazza on any other Princess ship will feel less than adequate by comparison. Also, the layout, spaciousness and offerings of the HC make it a real pleasure to dine there.

Thanks, Lew. I have read quite a bit here, and am pretty excited to explore new ground.

To get back to the thread topic (sorry for the semi-hijack :o), I have been in suites on other cruise lines. I do not use the concierge/ butler a bunch. I do, however, enjoy the lounge. I will bop in several times a day for coffee and fruit. I do use the DVD play, but that will not be a make or break item for me.

Having done suites on Princess, NCL, and (vicariously) HAL, I am now curious to know what are the suite perks on RCCL.

I do like the extra space in suites, but typically, I am just super happy to be on a cruise ship!

I am hopeful the Santuary and adult only pools will help make up for what appears to be a limited suite experiecnce...

Maybe Maybe just... Maybe.... things will change in the next 11-months.
