Tipping & Gratuities

Oh well, one lives and learns. Mental note = definitely have to take wine prices into account when deciding whether a cruise price is a bargain or not ;)

Yes, we try and factor in the total cruise package including flights, accommodation etc, when pricing a deal. Sometimes you can get a fantastic offer but it works out more expensive to take advantage of it.:D

Sorry, I meant a $6 difference ($32-$38) not $5.

But in AU dollars it's the difference between $42 and approx $57, so AU $15 per bottle.

Unfortunately there weren't many wines the same on those two wine lists. The Princess one has a considerable number of wines under US$50, RCI has a much smaller number so less choice at affordable prices.

If you bring your bottles of wine on (2 per cabin) and your hubby has the package that gives you the 20% off, you should be alright.:D

Hope so, Mic. We're being a bit naughty doing that cruise so soon after our last one but the fare was so low it was irresistible. Just have to hope the onboard cost don't turn the budget into a pretzel. ;)

Don't worry, at least you have a cruise budget to be ruined, some of us aren't that organised. I blame in on my addiction.;)

I'm the spreadsheet queen :D

Since we've only just started cruising it will take a while to work out what the good deals are on which cruise lines based on our cruise requirements, which are mostly just daily drinks. We're not big on excursions and we're not interested in casinos, we just enjoy relaxing, and good food and wine.

Casino or Bingo doesn't interest me, getting out at each port does though. The really big thing is that I love food and drink.:D

We like to get out and about in ports, but doing our own thing, just puttering around.

But, like you, food and wine is what makes our holidays - cruises or land based.

Got to agree with the puttering around in Port, not a drinker except water and diet coke, but looooooooooove good food.

Well, I discovered a great restaurant in Noumea when we were there. Simple, classic French food including possibly the best duck I have ever eaten. I might share the name if you twist my arm enough. Don't want it to become too popular though ;)

When I'm next booked for Noumea I'll be twisting, we are hoping for July.

We'll be there again later this month :D.

However we might try somewhere different this time, just for variety. I shall start looking at the other end of Lemon Bay first otherwise I know that duck will tempt me and I won't be able to go past it. :p

We just remove the auto's and don't give 'em squat. rofl.gif

I am sick and tired of going on cruises with Australians who line up at reception to remove the tips from their shipboard accounts. Just because you don't tip in "your" Country ... then cruise with Australian ships only ... or those with tips included in the price .... You cruise on American based ships ... YOU PAY THE TIPS!

I was watching and waiting for someone to give you what for.........

See the above post.

But you should see their rant about Aussies and Kiwis on another thread, though I am wondering given the joining date, writing style et al if it might not be an Aussie known to use multiple names.

I know they can say they are from anywhere but I doubt that this is that person to whom you refer.:D

Looking at their other posts, not tip related and that's only about 3, I am inclined to agree.
