This actually exists. When my friend couldn't read the menu at Murano on Celebrity Silhouette, the waiter brought out a box of reading glasses. No joke!!

Yes, they really have had them in the specialty restaurants for years.

 

I don't know if all the specialty restaurants have them, but I found out about them one day long ago when I forgot to bring my reading glasses and could not read the menu.

 

I mentioned to our waiter that I was going to the cabin to get them and would be right back.

He immediately produced a box full of assorted reading glasses.

 

I don't know if the cruise line bought them, or if they were unclaimed ones from the lost and found that had been left by previous passengers.

I just sailed Eclipse and I noticed that the Spa shop sells reading glasses along with all the lotion and potions etc. Didn't check the prices.

But as another had mentioned, I did see a box in one of the specialty restaurants a few cruises ago. My wife especially has a hard time reading menus without her reading glasses.

Yes you are correct, it was great then
