Elephant in the room :)

Recommended Posts

but did she give me the wrong answer ?????

you assume she has ........

The 22nd of may hasn't happened yet .....

That there are 2 traditional RCI formal nights? That we are 100% sure is wrong. Like I said, for someone who has never been on a ship, they might not even realize there's a difference between a formal night, where the whole ship is that way, and dressing formally to eat at the Grande.

Biker, who seems to vaguely remember some sort of elephant dish at Carnivore (game meat restaurant chain in Africa)

Yes, I have been reading the multiple deleted threads, and I am still amazed at the OP's tenacity... over a point of almost nothingness. Must be super awesome to be transfixed on such a trivial point.

jc

the whole point was ...... I wouldn't have booked. I'd have booked explorer that's going out next week instead.

I always fancied booking the Marco polo for a little trip, but only because it sails out of Tilbury (not far from me).

but then I found out there was no casino (which I wrongly assumed was on every ship), so I didn't book it.

so when I got miss Garcia's email I was quite amazed and thought I'd let you all know.

but then I do that and you basically tell me she's just lying to me as she's made a "mistake" ..........

I only wanted my money back lads, or to have my cruise transfered. But I do think it'd be funny if she was right.

And only time will tell.

Trust me, I understand.

Watched a TV show about the Marco Polo, yesterday. No thanks even if it had a casino. I think perhaps you are missing the whole point of travel. To see and do new things. Why not give it a positive view and see what you think. Surely, you are able to survive at your home without dressing up in a tuxedo or seeing others in a tuxedo.

In the reality, most people don't even dress for formal night any more on any of RCIs ships. So, the Quantum/Anthem are addressing that by making a restaurant formal. So, it might actually be a better formal experience than exists on the Explorer or other ships. We quit doing the formal night about 5 years ago, when I started looking around and finding less than 10% of the men in the dining room in a suit much less a tuxedo. So, on those cruises since, we do speciality restaurants on Formal night, then on the last cruise on the Liberty at the end of February, we decided to check it out, and ate in the MDR. There was almost no one formally dressed. Which kind of confirmed my belief that on RCI, Carnival, Princess, and NCL, formal night is all but dead. The reality is most people have significant travel involved in getting to a cruise, and the airlines have increased charges for luggage, and decreased weight per bag, and if I were to fly to Southampton to take a cruise, I would rather have my wetsuit for the flowrider as my tuxedo and formal shoes.

The ship is by all standards amazing. My, soon to be ignored advice, would be to try to embrace the amazing.... That, of course, is just me....:D

As to Garcia lying. I think misinforming is different from lying. That said, you could be correct, but I doubt it. Things do change, and there is a chance it might. Good luck.

******Update Email******

This has just been received:

Dear Mr. SausPud,

We apologise for the confusion.

As it stands, there are no set "formal" nights on Anthem unless you choose

to dine at The Grande which is our formal dress code restaurant.

From May 6, the second evening on every Anthem sailing will be a "Royal

Evening", we are not able to discuss any further information on Royal

Evenings at the moment, an official e-mail containing all the details and

information will be sent shortly to all of our guests sailing on Anthem on

or after May 6.

Regards,

Gabby M.
