Carnival gift cards loaded to sail and sign

I already have a $300 obc, and I am planning to load $500 gift cards to my sail and sign (they can have a credit card back up too). If I don't spend all the money from the gift cards, how do they return the difference? Gift card credit or check?

Thanks!

Last summer we had some OBC and bought about $400 in gift cards. We didn't spend about $8 and received a check in about two weeks with the remainder. I have heard you can go to guest services on last day to get a check, but I have never done this.

I'm also interested in this info for my cruise next week.

I've read where you can cash out in the casino, but not too clear on the details. Maybe someone can clarify?

(Misty -congrats on getting your cards. I'm still trying, although don't need them until 2/2016.):)

I had 12 dollars left from my gift card on my 3/28 cruise. I got a 12 dollar gift card via FEDEX about a week later. They also sent me a check via snail mail for 32 dollars of leftover refundable OBC ( overpaid port fees ) .

I was on the Miracle this past January and had loaded about $800 in gift cards on my SNS account during the cruise.

On the last sea day, I went by the Service Desk to ascertain my options IF I didn't spend all of the $800 (at that point, we had about $150 of credit left on our account).

The girl at the desk basically said they would give me cash if I desired or I could have a check mailed to my home. Long story short, even though I did not take her up on her offer at that point, I did return to the desk that evening (once we had determined that our spending was done) and was offered the same thing by another young lady who was now manning the desk. Upon receiving the offer for a second time, I accepted it and was refunded, in cash, approximately $100.

Honestly, I didn't think this was a possibility, but it did happen.

This option of receiving cash back may be related to what type of credit you have on your account...for example, I think gift cards (purchased with cash) may be treated differently than OBC credits given due to Early Saver type discounts.

I did the exact same thing and just asked the day before getting back to port because I wasn't sure how it would be handled or refunded. Had heard various accounts on here, so when I was offered the cash back right then I jumped on it. That way no hassle of waiting on a check in the mail or even going to the casino and cashing out there. Again I think it's based on the fact they were applied as gift cards similar to cash on sail & sign account rather than OBC from other sources. Hope the same rings true in June & October this year as I plan on doing the same.

If you gamble you need to cash out the last night of the cruise with the cashier in the casino. This is different from your sail & sign account where you deal with guest services.

I get a print out of our account the last night of the cruise. You can get one form guest services or one of the kiosks on board.

We just wait for a check to be mailed to us after the cruise. If we settle up the last night we still may make purchases. We definitely do not want to go to guest services the morning we have to leave the ship.

How to cash out your credit in the casino :

1. Go to a slot machine, enter your sign & sail card into the slot machine. You may have to set up a players account if you have not done that already.

2. Pull whatever $ amount you want into the slot machine. There is no 'convenience fee' to pull the $ from your sign & sail into the slot machine. You can pull $ from your sign & sail no matter what way you have backed your S&S card (credit card, gift cards, or cash). You can choose to spin a couple spins if you want or not.

3. Cash out the slot machine back into your players account.

4. Go to the Casino cashier and they will cash out whatever amount you want, or all of it from your players account

5. As near the beach stated, you do need to cash out your players account at the casino cashier by the last night. The casino is not open the morning of departure.

There are step by step instructions on the slot machine screen how to do the above steps (how to setup players account, how to access the money, how to cash it back out of the slot machine into your players account)

Note: If you play at the tables, you can buy chips with cash, or you can buy chips using your sign & sail card. If you use your sign & sail, you will be charged 3% convenience fee. What we do involves extra steps, but avoids the fee ... we pull the cash thru the slot machine and cash out at the casino cashier, then take the cash to the table to buy the chips.

thank you for the detailed explanation angela12345. I did it on our last cruise, but couldn't explain it as good as you! :) we were told several time different answers. mostly, if you are eligible to get your obc back, we will mail you a check. I wasn't sure that would happen, since I was sure I still had non refundable obc left. so I went to the casino and walked off the ship with my obc, instead of hoping to get sent a check. just to be sure.

Ok.. didn't see this thread until I asked in the old gift card thread.. But is there a way to apply the gift card onto my S&S account now, before my cruise? The OP makes it sound like there is. Just want to make sure I can. I'd rather do that then risk losing then between home and the ship. Last time I just took it with me and took it to GS desk and they put it on my account. (but that was just 1 $100 card.. i have significantly more than that this time around)

This would kill 2 birds with one stone... It would validate the cards are good and also remove the lost/stolen risk.

And for the "money left over" question, yes, they will send you a new gift card loaded with the left overs OR if you know you didn't use it all, go to GS on the last night and they will cut you a check or give you cash.

I would also like to know that. It might be worth it to purchase gift cards at Kroger and get the 4X fuel points for some of our S&S account. It would be great to put them on their before we go.

No not in advance, but some ports allow cash, gift cards to be set up when you check in. Others you either have to go to the kiosk or guest services.
