Yup, on the Anthem, the music hall is 2 decks high. Check the video out below.

I read through the deck plan on RCL webisite from 15-Dec-2016 to 23-Jan-2017 and noticed the music hall is on deck 3 and 4. Deck 4 is beside the golden Room/ Diamond lounge. So there is a chance there is still there until 2017, but i really hope it stays permanently. But they may use the 2nd floor as the added casino and leave the music hall only on deck 3. However, this present a problem for those who want to listen to music and right above their heads, there is a casino going on.

Thanks for the link and explanation.

On Quantum there is a nice bar on the 2nd level of the Music Hall overlooking the stage. The Golden Room (originally the Diamond Lounge) is also on the 2nd level just forward of the bar. From our observations the only requirement to get into the Golden Room was the ability to wager very high stakes gambling. They do not want spectators (unless they are with a high roller) and access to the locked room is constantly monitored. So if you really enjoy wagering thousands of dollars a hand and love smoke filled rooms - the Golden Room is the place for you. The Music Hall is a wonderful venue and the conversion of the Diamond Lounge to the Golden Room has little or no impact on the enjoyment of the Music Hall.

Anthem is the same as quantum.

On Quantum while it was in Asia, level 4 of the Music Hall was used as the venue for the Diamond members to have their free drinks etc in place of the Diamond lounge which was converted into the Golden Room. The area is cornered off every evening but there will still be normal passengers going in sometimes if there happens to be some event going on level 3 and they choose to watch it from Level 4.

I'm not sure when you sailed, but on the Quantum Asia sailing in Jan, the Diamond lounge was shared with the Concierge lounge.

Both levels of the Music Hall were open to the public as normal.

I sailed Quantum before it reached China. They might have combine it when it was in China as most of the Chinese are no where near hitting Diamond and non Chinese guests are few on these sailings so there is less of a crowding issue.

Meyer Werft announced today that the Ovation has to go back into dry dock at Hamburg and will leave Bremerhaven on Friday (arrival at Hamburg Saturday by noon) until Tuesday.

Reason: They´ve tested a new propulsion system which was expected to be more fuel efficent than the old one (which is on Anthem and Quantum). This didn´t work out. So the are replacing the new with the old system.

The delivery on April 8th won´t be affected says Meyer Werft.

I would love to hear some speculation about this from our resident Chief Engineer.

Unfortunately the press release by Meyer Werft did not reveal any further details about this new propulsion system or the reasons why they change back to the "old" system. Looked like the sea trials went pretty well regarding maneuverability or speed. May the new system consumes even more fuel than the old one.

That's what piqued my curiosity, when propulsion is mentioned, I wonder if they are actually swapping azipods? That would make sense because it would require a dry dock.

What I got from the press release is that they tried a new Propeller design which was supposed to reduce fuel consumption, but it didn´t, so they are now changing Propellers to the "old" design.

Sounds to me like it´s not a change of Azipods, but just the Propeller.

We can now book The Dream & Spectra's Cabaret for THE MAIDEN cruise - 17th April, The Dream is only on for the one night, Day 5, & only has 2 shows, 7pm & 9pm, guess it will be crowded.

Spectra's Cabaret varies on the other 4 nights,

Day 1 8:15 or 10:30

Day 2 7:45 or 10:15

Day 3 7:30

Day 4 8:15 or 10:30

I tried booking the day 2 10:15 but it wouldn't let me as there was a schedule conflict with my dinner reservation in Chic at 8:00

So I tried day 4 at 10:30 with Chic at 7:00 but again it wouldn't let me book it without re-scheduling Chic, when I tried to do this I couldn't because the times left were all after 9:00 & therefore had a "schedule conflict" How long are they expecting us to be in the restaurants for? Is service going to be that slow?

I remember on Anthem they suggested to allow 2 hours for dining & I managed to book everything for a 16 nighter with no problems, there's 3.5 hours between our dining time & Spectra's Cabaret !!!!!

In the end I cancelled Chic on Day 2 so that I could book Spectra's Cabaret so we will be either taking pot luck on the restaurants or Windjammer, either way no big deal, do you think it is just another annoying IT glitch?

I presume changing the propeller is quite a quick job? We are booked on the 14th cruise and very much looking forward to it!

Hi Dragonqueen, I ran into the same issue trying to book Spectra on the April 22 sailing for 8pm, however, it was my booking of the North Star at 4pm that day that caused the conflict, which doesn't even come close to overlapping the time slots.

I'm thinking it's a glitch.

Also, on our sailing, there are many shows for Spectra, but only three shows for The Dream, so maybe more will be added?

Good luck!

Thanks,

Joanna

To some it might be, but to others it is just a ferry crossing to Rotterdam :D

Not likely.

My maiden Harmony cruise to Rotterdam is going to be nothing like a ferry crossing. [emoji49]

Not to worry you in any way, I have just found this snippet of information:-

"Spare a thought for the humble Empress of the Seas. She is returning to the fleet after a long absence with Pullmantur. She’s not new, she’s not huge, and with all the attention devoted to Harmony and Ovation she must feel like the odd one out, pushed out of the limelight and into a corner by her big, bold sisters. However, in order to fit in with the style of Royal Caribbean certain changes have had to be made, including the addition of a rock climbing wall, high speed internet and Royal Caribbean’s signature steak restaurant – Chops Grille. And unfortunately that has taken longer than anticipated. The result? The first six sailings have had to be cancelled. Customers will be given the option of moving their booking to Majesty of the Seas or a later Empress of the Seas sailing or receive a full refund. Flight costs will also be refunded. All in all, a very costly exercise for Royal Caribbean and I can’t help thinking that right now they may have bitten off slightly more than they can chew. Not to mention the disappointment caused to all those customers. Maybe a case of less haste, more speed?"

thats how I read it too Paul. Sounds like they tried to use a different propeller on this ship compared to the Quantum and Anthem - to get a better speed - clearly it didn't work. so they have to go back and replace it.

thing i don't get - is that doesn't it have to go to dry dock - doesn't it take 3 or 4 days to empty dry dock and 3 days to refill???

I think they can do it pretty fast when they need to.

That's a refit on the Empress. I'm sure there were many unforeseen issues that took time that was unplanned.

A new build will also encounter issues, but the builders (STX France) will put the man hours needed in to avoid late delivery and the fines that are associated.

That's not to say when Harmony sails, with me on her, that everything will be finished. Quantum sailed with work still being done. But I'll just put up with any problems.
