We are cruising in November, we were scheduled to call at Harvest Caye, just got an email from NCL that we will be calling on Belize City instead. Harvest Caye won't be ready till Feb 2016

Interesting, thanks for the info. Had you looked into excursions from Harvest Caye? I'm wondering if excursions will be pretty much the same as the great ones we've had from Belize city in the past. Or is Harvest Caye a private island like GSC?

I knew this was the case as locals have been saying it won't be ready but as usual NCL's totally misinformed and always incorrect phone reps have told many is was scheduled for on-time completion.

Lol. I just call my PCC at NCL yesterday or the day before. I told him I was hearing grumblings that it wouldn't be ready on time, he assured me it would, lol

We are on the Jade November 14, 2015...I was kind of hoping if we didn't get to Harvest Caye that they would take us into Costa Maya. Might just stay on the ship..have done Belize City one too many times!

I will not be surprised if the date is pushed back even further.

That is what I'm thinking. We're scheduled to be there in April 2016 and I'll be surprised if it's ready then.

We've been to Belize City three times and will probably stay aboard ship if Harvest Cay isn't ready.

Sorry to hear that. We are on the Jade at the end of January 2016 and I was looking forward to seeing what a private island was like. Plus, wanted to sample the UBP while there.

But maybe it will be ready by our port day of Feb. 2 (but probably not).

We did cave tubing and ziplining in Belize City last time, so I think we want to try snorkeling this time. Will look for some good recommendations on private tours.

Thanks for the info. DW & I are also cruising the Western Carib this November. We are/were scheduled to call at Harvest Caye. No e-mail yet.

This will be our first cruise to the western carib. Is Belize City a tender port or does the ship dock.

We used Belize Express Tours in Feb and had an excellent snorkeling experience

I just got that email as well. Kind of disappointed that the island won't be ready, but props to NCL for replacing it with Belize City. They could have just dropped the port and spent an extra day at sea. It would give them a chance to make more money at the casinos. One of the many things I like about NCL is they are one of the few lines that offer a lot of 4 port days on a 7 day cruise. That means a lot to me. We haven't ever booked a 3 port cruise. We've always booked 4 ports. Due to inclement weather, we've missed ports before, and on a 4 port cruise, it's not that big of a deal, but if you miss a port on a 3 port cruise, then that would be a huge letdown.

If everyone does this it may never get 'finished'.... Hope it is definitive before April - Belize is the one central American country that is safe for US folks to venture on their own...

We're also scheduled for Harvest Caye in November. Haven't received an email yet, but to me this is great news. I have the feeling that Harvest Caye will be yet one more "fake port" that caters to naive cruise newcomers, like Mahogany Bay in Roatan, or the concrete monstrosity on Turks and Caicos, loaded with so-called craft shops (all selling the same junk) and jewelry stores. Give me the real port, the local port, anytime, to get the real flavor of a destination.

We got our email today too. I'm excited to be going to Belize City instead. I'm hoping they offer the excursion I read about last fall to Lamanai. Last time I checked MyNCL account, Harvest Caye was still listed as a port of call and there were no excursions listed for Belize on the NCL website at all!

I just got the email. Says it will be ready on February 15 because they are adding even MORE enhancements. Oh well.

We sail on the 14th and will be there on the 18th and hope we will be able to see it as have been to Belize a few times already and wouldn't mind a relaxing day at the beach. Plus it would be nice not to have to tender so don't need to be up early.:D

The excursion to Lamanai is one of the best we've taken in Central America. Look for a small shack near the river landing that sells tee-shirts -- they are designed by the fellow selling them. Mine is about worn out, may have to go back to get another!

Hopefully we are offered the option to go there. We still have 232 days until we cruise so hopefully we'll get the excursion choices soon. I'm sure NCL has to scramble to get the vendors back that they used to use in Belize City. It might take a few weeks before we actually seen something. I'll be checking everyday. If I get to go there I will be looking for the shack.
