Very soon live from the Star on the way to north cape

So after a very short 3 hour sleep the alarm clock was ringing. The only good thing about being up so early is that you can find a seat in the buffet. What really annoys me is that so many guests are occupying the tables without eating. Just to play cards, read a book or talk. Annoying when you are walking around with a full plate and can't find an empty table.

We arrived in Hellesylt to let the people with the shore excursion to Geiranger off.

On time we left and in the freestyle daily NCL announced they would be opening the crew are on deck for viewing the Geiranger fjord at 8:00. It was a couple of minutes and some confusion later they finally unlocked the last door.

Standing there at the front of the sip without any glass in front of you while the ship is slowly moving through the fjord is breathtaking

We noticed that in the buffet on our cruise too. There was a party of 8-12 playing cards in there every night starting around 7:00.

I had booked the bus tour to mount d... And the Norwegian fjord center. It was re scheduled to 2:45 pm, it was announced as a 3 hour your and the last tender was scheduled for 5:30. Do the math ;-)

After some resting and a quick lunch in the buffet I used the tender when it was already open tendering and after a very short drive we arrived in geiranger.

Apart from a few shops you can walk on a relatively new walkway next to the waterfall

Even around 2:30 pm there were around different NCL buses leaving which a huge mess but finally we were underway with our guide towards the top of the mountain in 1500m height above sea level for the famous viewpoint.
The drive was spectacular but I don't of pictures of it on my phone, sorry. This is the first lower viewpoint where we could see the star

When we finally reached the top it looked like that:

Imagine the fog would not be there then you could see the Norwegian star in the fjord

Sometimes you just have a little bit of bad luck. Before we ended the tour we had a brief stop in the fjord center to watch a slideshow wig them pictures of the area, rather boring and without any explanation what we were seeing and a very nice exhibit about the life in the fjords.
Our tour guide was great and we did the completely 30 minute tour so that we were the last bus back and our tender started at 6:10

Finally back on board the I stopped as usual at sugarcane but skipped the MDR and just had a quick bite in the buffet still with most people sitting there without eating. I can understand that it is kind dog a revenge after NCL took away the observation lounge but none the less annoying

If you wonder where I am Writing these posts

Interesting detail I never experienced in such a way before.
11:40pm and entertainers are entertaining entertainers. To be honest not sure what I should think about it

Hi there! I am vicariously traveling with you from my dark, cold desk in the hospital basement where I work. Thank you for being my magic mirror to the beautiful world beyond!

I'm planning to honeymoon on the Star in November, and I was wondering if there is any way for you to check to see if our first dance song (Someone to Watch Over Me) is available for karaoke? :) I know that digging through the karaoke books is nobody's cup-o-tea (unless you are holding out on us and not posting any videos of your marvelous singing voice), so if not, can you just tell me if it looks like a sizable karaoke book, or a skinny one with a small selection?

Thank you so much!

I don't think there is a Karaoke book on the Star. When we were on a few months ago, those who wanted to participate had to sign up on iPads, and there was no sheet or book for them to look at before the sign ups started. So everyone had to rush and stand in line to use the few iPads, find the song they wanted, then pass it on to someone else. I think the selections were pretty numerous, but no way to really tell without looking at the iPad.

Good morning from the city of Trondheim.

Before I get to the actual day, this night the first bunch of picture upload worked, so here are the missing ones from Alesund. I had to size them down a good bit and did not edit them but they should be much better than the iPhone ones

Trondheim is a nice easy to discover city by foot. Without visiting any museum or church inside it took around 3 hours to pretty much see everything interesting, if I had not missed something.

The weather here changes every 15 minutes between sun, cloudy skies with a fresh breeze and rain.

Well that's underwhelming. Thanks for clarifying!

I was waiting to see how your trip to Mount Dalsnibba went from Geiranger as on the May 20th cruise the road was closed due to heavy snow the day before.

your view looked the same as what we experienced from the top of the Flam railway-foggy and heaps of ice everywhere!

Oh well at least you seem to be having better weather otherwise than we did but Norway is definitely worth seeing

Weird, it is 7:25pm and I expected the MDR to be rather empty because of the main show. Aqua had a 15 minutes wait and Versailles even a line. So for today I will have dinner at O'sheehans. The view is not so bad, a little bit of people watching

Okay, I really have to stop visiting O'Sheehans. Third time and third time below par. I am neither impressed by the menu choices not by the taste. If my memory is not completely off it was 100 times better on the epic in their inaugural season.

What annoyed me from day one was this

Seriously we are in such a great scenic itinerary. I am all for putting signs up that jogging is not allowed but don't rope the area towards the sea off.
So I left a note for the hotel director on day two to please think about it again. Not that I did not get any response but the rope is still there every night.

After that I had my first Nutella crepe in the buffet, delicious

According to the captain we will stop close by a glacier tomorrow and turn the ship around for some photo ops. Interesting as I never stumbled upon any info about that when planning this cruise
