Inside deck 12. So far I can absolutely recommend it for such a scenic cruise. Just a few steps to the open decks for watching the sea.

Great to know! Would love to see a few photos of the cabin and bathroom if you have time.

Also, would love to be updated on how the seas are during your voyage:)

Thanks for the great review and pictures - looking forward to it. We enjoyed listening to Stan Sykes at Gatsby's in the evenings last month.

I'm hoping you'll do a similar review in November on the Sun. We are on the Sun in Jan.

Thanks!! Does the messaging work? Hoping to keep track of my teens with this [emoji4]

Since it was just 2 of us, we didn't spend the $7.95 per phone to text message each other on the ship. It was nice to not carry my phone with me all the time.

Far as I could tell, the messaging feature works just fine as long as you are in an area of the ship with a strong wifi signal.

Good morning from the Star. No more sunshine at the moment and it is getting fresh

This is the freestyle daily for today

Not many interesting things throughout the day but with the platinum behind the scenes tour shortly and after that the cruise critic Meet and greet it will be a busy morning.

Good thing that there were lots of emptying tables in the buffet so early.

And yes it is still as ugly as before the dry dock.

Something I forgot to mention yesterday, all the reports about the uncomfortable seats in the theatre are correct. It was only bearable because the seats next to me on both sides were empty.

Okay no behind the scenes tour for me. It was a madhouse. Although we were asked to register yesterday a massive amount of people showed up, they tried to read the names of those registered and 80% were not present. No idea why my name wasn't on it but I won't stand there and sort it out on my vacation time. But seriously when you know there are more than 300 platinum members on board they really need to organize it better.

We have 10 degree C and cloudy skies. Not to bad as long as you are not standing directly at the front of the ship because the wind is really cold. Good that I packed my gloves. Sea is calm so it is a nice sailing so far. feef9bbfa4dade907935614b19a8d592.jpg

we were on the May 20 7 night Norway and behind scenes was 9.30am with meet and greet for 11.There were about 40 people so divided into 2 groups but still over ran and had to leave early to make meet and greet

with yours put back to 9 it sounds as if they learned one lesson but obviously not enough

It wasn't at 9:00 that is what I read in the handwriting of the person who wrote it down for me. I was told the real time was 9:20 although that is a strange time so might have been 9:30 in reality.

One thing we discovered in here is that they have a Wii set up for kids in that corner there. Beneath the tv. There was a group playing Wii Tennis around 11 am. Not with Splash Academy; just random children.

What a fantastic review as your days go by. Your photos are very very good as well and I'm very glad you are wanting to do this for the rest of us...Thankyou. :D

I have an information request if and when you have the time. We will be doing the 12 day British Isles cruise in September and we have a door sign we would like to use on our cabin door. If you have the time could I ask you to check the cabin doors on deck 12 to see if you think a magnet or two will adhere the sign to the door. I have been told that the doors have louvers, not flat and that this may not work. Only if you have the time.

Enjoy your days on the Star and again, thank you for sharing your cruise with us.

The hot and sour soup and hot dip in O'sheehans was better than the fish and chips yesterday but nothing to rave about. I am not sure if they changed the menu on the epic as well but it is somehow different than what I remembered. I forgot taking a picture of the menu though

At 1:30 there was the latitudes welcome back in spinnaker lounge. First time that I saw the captain and he seems to be a very nice man. He took his time to tell a little bit about the ports and itinerary instead of just introducing the officers.

For those like me who had no idea how this dinner voucher for CAS members works. You can get a printed voucher from the casino host and just reserve it yourself and then bring the voucher with you, same like the platinum lie bistro voucher.

Is anyone smoking on deck by the pools, and if so, can you smell the smoke in the cabin hallways?

Yes people are smoking outside, I think even in the side of the deck where my stateroom is. I haven't smelled it though. I will make a post with some more cabin/location information later or tomorrow though.

I recorded a short video from the promenade deck. You should be able to hear the wind

Pre dinner drinks were at sugarcane. I can really recommend them and Greg the bartender is great.

Dinner tonight then was at Aqua as Versailles looked a bit more occupied. It was even better than the night before. The service was spotless and very quick. Hardly any wait between the courses. Especially the soufflé was fabulous.

Great review! Thank you for taking the time to do it as the cruise goes on. I am doing the Baltic Capitals cruise next month, and it's great to see the Star. Could you take pics of your inside cabin? I am also booked on an inside (traveling solo) and the pics on NCL are not very informative.

Great photos btw! Cheers!

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I will take some pictures of the cabin and upload them tomorrow.

This evenings entertainment was the production show band on the run. Well it was a typical production show, nothing outstanding but solid entertainment.

As every night lots of music in the evening

Tonight was Norwegians night out. We had recently a thread on here about how many do dress up. Tonight I would say not more than 10%. But it did not make any difference to the atmosphere.

This itinerary is obviously not a party cruise so the nights are like that some people dance a bit, most listen to he music and have a drink. I think the cruise staff is doing it pretty good not trying to push something that won't work.

This evening some snacks from CAS

So once again a midnight snack on the open decks and that is the view twenty minutes past midnight.

Isn't that beautiful and we are not even close to the arctic circle yet.

Tomorrow we will have our first port stop in alesund. So far for today, good night.

Thank you, Michael. Your posts are great. It's amazing how light it is at midnight. I wonder how much ballroom dancing there is. Not too many young people on board?

No although it is not an retirement home vacation as well. Pretty good mixed I would say.

No idea of ballroom dancing though, not my area of expertise :-)
