dexddd Posted June 14, 2015 #53 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Great review! Thank you for taking the time to do it as the cruise goes on. I am doing the Baltic Capitals cruise next month, and it's great to see the Star. Could you take pics of your inside cabin? I am also booked on an inside (traveling solo) and the pics on NCL are not very informative. Great photos btw! Cheers! What floor are you on? It looks like the OP is in one of the newer insides on 12 so if you aren't on 12 your inside room will have a different decor.
Rare QuattroRomeo Posted June 14, 2015 #54 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Thanks for sharing your cruise with us! It is the next best thing to being there-although I do wish I could bite into that lovely souffle you posted a picture of....! Look forward to your comments on the ports as they come! Planmaam Posted June 14, 2015 #55 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Thank you, Michael, for this trip tour. It's been 40 years (!) since I was above the Article Circle in Norway myself! This is one cruise my DH says he would love to do, he's not as much as a cruise enthusiast as I am. Love seeing the changes to the Star. The Star Bar was our favorite place for a drink; looks about the same from the pictures you posted. Where was the M & G? I didn't recognize the area. GUEST080219 Posted June 14, 2015 Author #56 Share Posted June 14, 2015 As we are heading towards geiranger and I am waiting for my dinner some news for you. The good news is we had absolutely wonderful sunny weather in alesund until the later afternoon when it started to rain. The bad news is that after roughly sorting them I have 163 pictures from this beautiful town but as the internet connection is so spotty at the moment there is no chance to upload them to Flickr for you to enjoy. Anyway this is the freestyle daily for today
GUEST080219 Posted June 14, 2015 Author #57 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Love seeing the changes to the Star. The Star Bar was our favorite place for a drink; looks about the same from the pictures you posted. Where was the M & G? I didn't recognize the area. The best about the sugarcane bar are the drinks.m and of course the staff. There are people working behind the bar that can pour you drinks and there are bartenders. Here you find the second one. Always a pleasure to have one or two pre dinner mojitos here. M&G was at la cucina
GUEST080219 Posted June 14, 2015 Author #58 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Dinner today at Aqua again. I think I slightly prefer it here. Beef and noodle soup was okay Lasagne not so much Chocolate eclair, well chocolate what can you not love about it The evenings start to follow a usual routine. Pre dinner drinks at sugarcane, dinner, post dinner drink at gatsby, casino, show, spinnaker, casino, ...
herdingdogmom Posted June 14, 2015 #59 Share Posted June 14, 2015 (edited) We will be doing the 12 day British Isles cruise in September and we have a door sign we would like to use on our cabin door. If you have the time could I ask you to check the cabin doors on deck 12 to see if you think a magnet or two will adhere the sign to the door. I have been told that the doors have louvers, not flat and that this may not work. I looked into this last month for your fellow roll call poster DebbieCruises. The cabin doors on deck 12 are flat. Both magnets I tried adhered to the door just fine. The larger, heavier magnet was better than the smaller, lighter one as you would expect. Here is my post: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2191255&page=3&highlight=door+magnet+star Edited June 14, 2015 by herdingdogmom

I didn't know about the differences in decor in inside rooms. Well, even if the decor is different, I hope the pics will still give me an idea of what to expect in a Star inside :)
Lanzador Posted June 14, 2015 #65 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Can you post a pic of the daily page that shows the opening hours of the facilities (gym, spa, restaurants, etc.)? Also, how fast is the internet? Thanks

Also, how fast is the internet? Thanks This one? It was a sea day. I need to look a bit deeper into the Internet issue. Uploading via tapatalk is fast, as well as surfing or email. Sometimes the login doesn't work though.
GUEST080219 Posted June 14, 2015 Author #67 Share Posted June 14, 2015 Some more pictures. This is 10 minutes past midnight local time. Either thousand people are enjoying the scenery on their balconies or they are doing something wrong. From 11:30pm on the public areas are empty. Now at O'sheehans with only one other table occupied. Spinnaker lounge is apart from crew members empty.

GUEST080219 Posted June 15, 2015 Author #73 Share Posted June 15, 2015 Perfect, and thanks. I'm still try to decide whether the internet service is worth the cost. To be honest I am not sure. Most useful is it to have accurate hourly weather forecast before going shore. Today for geiranger internet is down the whole time. That should be expected, though I am not sure why. That is why I could not update so far. Here in geiranger we do have free wifi although not very fast.
