Hawaii/South Pacific Cruises and El Nino in 2015

We have been reading that this year may experience a big El Nino season in the Pacific. We are scheduled for the 28 day round trip Hawaii/ South Pacific Crown Princess Cruise out of LA in mid October, 2015. Does anyone know how cruise ships avoid hurricanes on a route such as this? Are they able to sail around them or do go through storms in order to stay on schedule? Anyone have experience with this route during an "El Nino season"?

Thanks

October is not in the traditional cyclone season for ports south of the Equator...Hawaii is not that much further north, so you should be OK. Ships will avoid rough weather if they do encounter lows.

For safety reasons they will always try and avoid them. If that means sailing around them by 100 or more miles they will.

Hey Rbel4, don't worry about a little storm animated-palms-pirate-theme.gif as the Crown Princess should be able to handle it!

I would like to extend a special offer to come join in on our Roll CALL!

You never know about the paths of hurricanes. Hawaii just had a far miss (to the north) in July. I had a condo unit destroyed by a hurricane on the last day of the hurricane season (November 30). I am sure the ship's captain will do all it can to avoid encountering any storms. Once it leaves Hawaiian waters, it becomes a Cyclone.
