CruiseElla Posted August 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 25, 2015 We are in a cabin on deck 10. I am wondering if the smoke from the smoking area, floats into deck 10 cabins, when balcony doors are open. Also, wondering if the theater is smokey being that it is in the smoking area. Thank you. fuddhist1 Posted August 25, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2015 Not supposed to leave balcony doors open anyway, so I would say if you are following the rules the smoke won't bother you. [emoji106]

What side of the ship are you booked? Deck 3 starboard allows for smoking while port does not.
Brighton Line Posted August 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 25, 2015 Don't forget ship generated wind when underway! Which way will the smoke blow? Aft cabin, you also have stack gases.... ;) LOL

The outside smoking area on deck 10 is towards the aft and your cabin is forward.
CruiseElla Posted August 26, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted August 26, 2015 What side of the ship are you booked? Deck 3 starboard allows for smoking while port does not. We are on the starboard side. When I booked the cruise with Carnival, the agent did not inform me that smoking was allowed on deck 10. I am afraid the smoke might blow forward, into my open room. This happened to us, before....and it was not comfortable. Carnival doesn't always inform cruisers about smoking decks.

Flatbush Flyer Posted August 26, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 26, 2015 OP: are you aware that there are cruise lines with very restrictive smoking policies? For example, Oceania has only two spots: an enclosed area indoors and a small outdoor corner.
sc4125 Posted August 26, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 26, 2015 OP - like someone else mentioned - the smoking area is Deck 10 midship to aft. It's a very large area and the people are pretty spread out for the most part. I don't think that you'll have smoke invading your cabin. By the way, it is really impolite to keep your balcony door open as it can (and does) affect the cabins next to you. As far as being uncomfortable, the fact that your actions may make my cabin hot seem much worse than the slight possibility that you may get a random whiff of smoke. pinkie60 Posted August 26, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 26, 2015 i want to book the conquest and my friend is a smoker. We can afford most any cabin on the ship what would be the best fit for someone who smokes and can afford a balcony but doesn't want to run all over the ship to be able to smoke? Unless the ship is going backwards, cigarette smoke (or any other kind of smoke) will not blow forward. If by chance there is a tail wind, any outdoor smoke will probably be blown away so fast that you won't even notice it. In any case, as others have mentioned, keep your balcony door closed. Then you won't have a problem, no matter which way the wind blows.
