Carnival magic opinions/ reviews. Help me :)

That is cool that they did magic tricks on the ship but they do not have the playlist production shows where they put plays on and stuff or even the game shows or whatever? I really hope if they don't have them right now that they get that in the upgrade when the ship goes in a dry dock. Does the magic have the comedy shows?

I have also been looking at the reviews for the magic and they seem good. Honestly any huge ship like this will be good! You have to put your mind in the thinking stages of having fun that say nothing will ruin the cruise

You are completely opposite from me. I search out the ships that do not have playlist productions. The old shows have a full orchestra and about 8 - 10 dancers who also sing as well as 4 lead singers who dance a little. The old shows also had scenery and props. The new playlist productions have only 8 singer / dancers who perform to canned music with very little scenery or props and no Show Band. I hate the game shows that they use as entertainment on two nights of a 7 night cruise with the playlist productions lineup. With playlist productions they have four shows per cruise all with canned music. With the old shows they had 6 shows / cruise with a live band. There's no comparison! Even the ships without playlist productions still have the comedy club with for comedians so you don't miss out on that.

We were in an OV on the Riveria deck in March. There isn't really much room to look out the window and the window was filthy anyway. We felt quite a bit of movement, especially coming into port. I got used to it though and I slept better than I think I ever have on any vacation. My review is in my signature if you'd like to read.

As a first time cruiser, I found the ship very easy to navigate. Really my only complaint was the food. We did have a couple of really good meals in the MDR and the Tandoori was awesome--I wish I had tried it sooner. I think the addition of Guy's and/or Blue Iguana will help immensely.

A cruise is what you make it--so just go and be prepared to have a great time! Your itinerary looks awesome. I really hope to cruise out of FL one day so we can do the southern itinerary.

What part of the ship were you in? Middle, back, or front of the ship? I have the mid ship area on the lowest deck that has rooms (I think it's the riveria) but I sure hope I don't feel the movement that low because I was told I wouldn't feel much

Your right... A cruise is what I make it. No matter what I try and have fun

Oh we were aft, I should have mentioned that. Maybe that was the difference--it was my first cruise so I'm not sure! :) But I loved our room overall since it is slightly bigger than a regular interior and somehow we scored that extra bathroom which was awesome--not sure how that happened though.

If you are located Mid you should be good. Sometimes being forward you get waves or anchor noise. The lower you are, less movement.

Just off the Magic on 10/25. It's a clean, new looking ship, with a pretty good crew, helpful and cheery. Except for the casino and photo nights, there wasn't that much crowding. I was able to get a Serenity Lounger each time I went up there.

Not sure I like the small portions of the American Table menu, but I came home the same weight as when I left. Steakhouse was excellent. Slides and ropes course were fun, and it was nice to have a true wraparound deck for outside walking on 5.

Room service banged on my door one morning at 5:45AM when I didn't order anything, grrr.

The disembarkation was horrendous with an ineffective CD and helpless crew just watching the stampede of passengers trying to get off the ship in any zone order.

I hope that won't be repeated when I return to the Magic on Nov 8.

Small portions of the American menu? I'm little confused. Was the buffets or the dining restaurants lacking of food?

The American Menu was in the MDR. 5 or 6 oz portion of chicken or fish (I only had steak in the Steakhouse) and sides were tiny. I came home the same weight as when I left......but climbing the stairs instead of using the elevators (even with a hip replacement, fused spine and arthritis) certainly helped.

On the Magic, I felt like the dinner buffet lacked choice. The lunch buffet was overflowing.

I didn't think the American Table/Feast (dining room) portions were small. They were very good sized, many times I didn't finish. Since you can have as much as you want, it makes sense the portions would not be huge. They were not typical USA-eating out portions (which is well more than a single portion of food) but they were not absurdly small, especially for a multi-course meal. Order more if you are still hungry; but avoid the waste for everyone else.

Got ya. Thanks for the info! I used the stairs a lot to just because it's faster lol

I had the American table menu for the first time on my cruise earlier this month and I didn't notice any small servings in fact as usual I was unable to finish the entree at any meal. Of course maybe that's because I like to try the different appetizers and I usually order at least 2 appetizers in addition to the entree. Like the entree, I usually don't finish every bite of the appetizer. If I did finish the appetizers I wouldn't be able to even taste the entree, I'd be so full.

Ya for the appetizer I always love the little bread rolls and the salads. But for my meal... LOVE the flat iron steak!!

  • 1 month later...
I just read she was getting all the 2.0 upgrades in Feb-March2016. I hope it's true. I sailed on this ship and enjoyed but it will be nice for it to have guys burgers and the better Mexican food. Steakhouse was awesome.

I heard the same thing. The magic is coming to cape canaveral after the upgrade sometime. I can't wait to sail on it in September. I'm just hoping no bad weather comes! Lol
