Tee & Chilli Posted October 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2015 We're travelling with an electric scooter that breaks down in 5 parts. Can a taxi from the San Juan airport accommodate us or do we need to make alternative arrangements? Is the scooter changed similar to luggage? Tee & Chilli Posted October 9, 2015 Author #2 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Just bumping this up. Has anyone used a taxi in San Juan when travelling with a scooter?
Ashland Posted October 9, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 9, 2015 Yes a van taxi will be available and should have no trouble transporting your scooter...I believe it will be treated as an additional piece of luggage (per the receipt I have from our last arrival at SJU a $1.00 extra charge per item is even applied to surfboards & musical instruments). Many travel with mobility issues to/from San Juan and the equipment they need...so don't be concerned...you'll do fine and have all the help you need...We found the taxi drivers to be honest, friendly and very helpful. Enjoy :)

bouhunter Posted October 9, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 9, 2015 We've taken a lot of taxis in San Juan, it seems most (or at least many) taxis there are mini-vans:)

Yes...Charles4515...that is the receipt I was referring to in my post..Makes it very easy to see the exact cost (by zones) and additional luggage charges in writing before you even enter the taxi...a very honest and well regulated system in San Juan. julesbeara Posted October 11, 2015 #9 Share Posted October 11, 2015 We traveled for 2 weeks in December 2014 out of San Juan on the Jewel with Luggie brand scooter for my Dad's girlfriend. We had no problems in San Juan or any of the Eastern & Southern ports. The security staff on the ship and taxi drivers in all the ports were great. I can answer questions about accessible friendly tours too.
