Phase out of Concierge Lounge

Probably between 100 and 105. Won't know until fall 2017 is booked.

My mental note basis for pricing out a 7 day cruise out of FLL in a G/S on a class of ship below Oasis is 5k per cruise, not including air of any other additional expenses. Then working outside of those perimeters the price only increases. In essence, 20 cruises equates to a minimum of 100k for every 280points for me. I do find solace in fact that the casino did contribute to paying for a few of those sailings along the way.

On another note, why would you not want to dine at the Chef's Table? I am on the same cruise in March as you and I will go in your stead if you so desire. ;) Dana

We are not into the fancy foods and we like to recognize what we are eating. :D I guess we will have to cross that bridge if we come to it.

As the story goes, that's BS...there was never an error with some ones notes, your post is BS...pure and simple...

His post may have more merit in it than you think. Let's rationally break it down. Here is the breakdown of points needed for each level:

03 ~~ Gold Level

30 ~~ Platinum Level

55 ~~ Emerald Level

80 ~~ Diamond Level

175 ~ Diamond Plus Level

700 ~ Pinnacle Club Level

The difference between

Gold and Platinum is 27 points

Platinum and Emerald is 25 points

Emerald and Diamond is 35 points

Diamond and Diamond is 95 points

Diamond Plus and PC is 525 points

I don't think anyone can explain would they put a level between Platinum and Diamond when the new level would have made more sense between D+ and PC? Wouldn't it??

OK, they wanted to slow down the process of making PC Level.

But they sure sped it up by giving bonus point for solo and including JS in the suite bonus

Unless one lives very near a port terminal, In reality it is extremely difficult to attain 700 cruise points. For ten years now I have sailed in G/S or above and thrown in a 4 solo cruises only to amass 349 points. People do other things for vacations aside from cruising. The normal person with present vacation plans from work, can attain about 28 days a year give or take a few days. What I have noted, is that people upon retirement will do 9 -12 week consecutive cruises to play catch up.

I have turned down comp'd cruises offered by Club Royal frequently, because on normal offerings of 3-4 day cruises it does not warrant the cost of the airfare and other than a 5 day cruise to Bermuda, I will do no cruise less than 7 days - blink and it's over.

I think you observations are valid. It is indeed difficult for people who are still working to amass 700 points and upon retirement some go on a cruise binge. At one time I had a bit of envy for those who could almost live aboard ship but a three week cruise cured me of that. While I enjoy cruising I love the ability to jump in my car and go shopping, drive to a great restaurant, go to a movie or visit friends.

When I just sailed on the Anthem 11/30 the top Pinnacle was at slightly over 1,400 cruise days with # 2 coming in at around 1200+.

On the other hand, one concierge on a recent cruise told us that on some of the sailings on the smaller ships, the top cruiser had between 250-300 points.

Enchantment is that way. There is one PC that travels her a lot. Tall, thin guy. Solo. Kinda full of himself, though

Really?

I think I started the conversation "As I was told"

My point being, the Emerald was placed at the wrong point in the tier system for whatever reason.

Why so defensive? I couldn't quote the person who told you. And it still sounds like an urban myth to me.

Yes, you are correct. I was not looking to be so technical. But, the people who made out huge were the people that had numerous 3-4 day sailings and received the full credit for a seven day cruise during said conversion.

That was true under the old system also. A 3-4 night cruise received the same credit as a ten or eleven night cruise. Then during the conversion all the credits received the same number of days.

Going forward a 3-4 night cruise will not received the same number of points as a seven, ten or eleven night cruise.

He is a very nice person, if you get to know him. He has just over 1500 cruise points, if that is who I'm thinking of.

We are just shy of 1400 points, two 7 night cruises will put us over, and I think Patti is maybe a little bit high on the number of Pinnacle Club members, but my best guess is that it's around or just above 1500. Those that have achieved 1400 cruise points probably is around 120, and only 20 to 30 have over 2100 points.

Mario leads the pack, with over 5000 cruise points, not nights. He cruises in suites on many cruises, and if I recall his statement of a year ago, he has spent at least 2 years, cruising almost 50 weeks per year. Since he cruises mostly as a single, he is able to get triple points, and if my math is correct, could earn as many as close to 1050 points in a year.

Several years back, on the Allure pre inaugural, the second highest cruiser and third highest cruiser, each had about 2600 points, give or take. Neither couple has cruised much since then.

We would have a couple of hundred more points, but being close to the west coast, are now cruising much more on Princess, as well as branching out to Azamara and a few wonderful river cruises in Europe.

Many that are D+ would love to see a new level between D+ and PC. I don't foresee that happening. As a Pinnacle Club member, the additional perks are few, the best one for us is the unlimited internet minutes.

As far as the lounges are concerned, the CL on most of our cruises seems to be over crowded, and at some point Royal Caribbean must deal with this situation. More than likely, all Gold Card members will be able to use the CL, and D+ will use the Diamond Lounge, and Diamonds will have 3 free drinks to use in any bar they choose.......just thinking out loud!:)

Even RCCL recognized that it would be only fair to award points to someone who pays twice as much as someone else in the same cabin. Then look at the price difference between a J/S and a balcony, again the points were paid for, nothing is free on RCCL.

I believe that is because someone who has done that much sailing to achieve upper D+ and pinnacle, has already done the small things and now they desire the latest and greatest. Look at the bookings for the Harmony for the next year and the ship has not even hit the water yet.

That might be Colin. British gent, longer white hair in a pony tail, very reserve and resides in FL now.

And we have another thread reduced to where people have to tell us what level they are, what level they are going to be, how many points they have, how many cruises they have been on. Etc. Etc.

Threads evolve, what more was there to say about the original topic. Someone challenged another to come up with 5 new topics that haven't been beat to death. Any ideas???

I had a JS for only $500 more on a twelve night cruise and received three free drink coupons per night.

Do you have any idea how many of the original Pinnacles are still actively cruising?

Have no idea. I do know that several have passed on and, as Rick mentioned, there are a few that do not cruise as much any longer.

A hotel director mentioned last fall at a Welcome Back Party/Top Tier Event that there were 3000 PC Members. I have no idea where he got his information, but after it was posted here.........it was the gospel truth and nobody would believe otherwise! You know how that goes.;)
