JW and Jerome's Adventure on The Norwegian Escape

Recommended Posts

I am waiting on the edge of my seat, like everyone else (and I was there for the third installment!), but I know JW has a YUGE event this weekend, so we might not see an update until that is over.

But I assure you, it will be worth it!!

Nancy, will you be doing a report too? I was so happy to run into you at the buffet that night even if you did think I was a crazy lady running off with bananas :'). I have to say, it is clear that the Escape is a massive ship because aside from the M&G I only ran into you that one time and we saw JW and Jerome at a distance twice the entire week!

I do not have the flair (nor patience) for writing like JW does, so I'll leave it to him to give a full report. I'm also curious to hear how the three trips compared.

How is your daughter? Hopefully no more than a bump on the head? What a scary incident. I hope it didn't color the rest of your week?

As Nancy Dow said, I have a Huuuuuuuge event this weekend at the hotel which will be, most likely, my crowning career achievement prior to my ultimate retirement upcoming on Easter Sunday. (If they let me go this time!, I have tried twice before to retire after 35 years but to no avail as they keep making me come back) Jerome is making me complete the first chapter of the review tonight so I will be posting later on as I am off today and home, unpacking (Yes, finally) and doing "House Chores" in between the many panic phone calls from work leading up to this monumental event. Though I cannot discuss the event, it is Huuuuuuuge.

Hello, and thanks for all of your wonderful reviews.

I'm taking my daughter on The Escape the end of the month for a combined 18th birthday / graduation present. Would you mind if I use this pic for my FB cover photo?

I also wanted to tell you that my husband and his friend call myself and his friend's wife the President and Vice President of the BP Club (that's the Button Pusher's Club, lol). We'll gladly make you an honorary member. ;p

Honored to be a member.........................love to push buttons. Especially all the ones on the Elevator!

Hahahahaha!!! This totally happened to us going down from deck 16 by a kid who pushed all the buttons before running out-we were so good at counter acting his button pushing by using the door close button at every floor we ended up missing deck 7! :')We laughed so hard! I loved that by the end of the week even the little kids on the ship knew how to use that "quick, close the door-don't let anyone else in!" button. Seriously though, we rarely encountered an issue with the elevators and the flights of stairs are super short for going up or down a flight or two.

Head's Up everyone! We are back this morning from The Escape. I will be putting together our Trilogy Adventure and just an advance teaser.......

The Third Adventure was just as ah-may-zing as the first. Let's just forget we ever sailed on the "Jan Brady" (Middle Kid Syndrome) second sailing.

Between Nancy Dow and Rusty (Baryton) I could not keep my head on straight (Gaylee on Top looking forward) and there is sooooooooooooooo much to tell.

I am getting unpacked and the first drops in the JW and Jerome's Adventures will begin tomorrow.

(I allowed Nancy to wear my crown temporarily for dinner, because I am now Sir Golden Lady Lose A Lot of The Motion of the Ocean, Queen of The Slots. I leveled up, and really hit the jackpots, and there is film at eleven to prove it! Wait until you read about JW (AKA Mad White Woman) literally shutting down the casino because no one could concentrate over my screams!

Remember, don't be drinking no coffee at work this week while reading the Trilogy!

I wanted to Thank Nancy and especially JW for arranging the Meet and Greet and slot pull. Your little talk about not taking issues home with you but taking them to the right person definitely changed our whole cruise. From a trip that would not happen again with NCL our opinions have changed and we are looking at another cruise in the near future. Again a HUGE Thank You

Thanks for asking Nancy! She was completely fine by the next day. Definitely a scary incident, but all that was lost thankfully was one evening of our trip-it could have been far worse. We also took what JW said to heart and made sure to file an official report and I do hope they review safety procedures. I can't say that the plate of fruit and generic note we received the next day were quite satisfying, but every other part of our trip and the service we received were outstanding. Setting aside the "incident" I don't understand the negative reviews of this ship. We had such a marvelous time I am thinking of writing my own report!

So glad it all worked out as well as it could, despite the initial incident. I do hope your daughter enjoyed all those bananas!

Please do write a review! I love reading about everyone's experiences, especially when I was on the same cruise!

Not to hijack this AWESOME thread, but I do have a quick Escape elevator story as well.

We entered the elevator on deck 17 (heading down) along with two couples who were clearly having a lot of fun. We get to deck 16, and as a gentleman steps in, one of the guys yells "going up!" guy looks at us, confused, then goes to step out when he laughs and tells him "just kidding!"

Deck 15... another couple enters and the same guy once again yells "going up!" Same scenario but now we're all laughing, including the guy from deck 16. "Just kidding... that's two!"

Deck 14... and he's going for the hat trick. Guy steps in, get's the "going up!". He just stops. Frozen. He drops his head in shame, turns around, and gets out. We all yell "No! No! Just kidding!" He turns, looks at us, waves his arm down in disgust, and walks away never saying a word. We all laughed so hard and I'm pretty sure everyone "tinkled" (copyright JW) just a little bit! :')

Just reminiscing while we PATIENTLY wait for the next chapter form this JW character. I have never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I can only imagine it would be a riot-and-a-half to be on a cruise with him and Jerome! :p

I can honestly say that even though I did not get a lot of exercise last week, I got QUITE an ab workout just laughing with JW, Jerome, and Rusty! I thought there was no way JW could be as fabulous in person and I was wrong - he is MORE fabulous!

I thought of that the last morning on board. I was standing in a not so bad line at guest services, as I stupidly packed my keycard in my suitcase. There was a guest in front of me who took service charges off for 5 people. I couldn't hear the whole conversation, but I did wonder if there were things he wasn't happy with or if he was just cutting his expenses. Body language of the woman behind the desk told me she didn't seem thrilled by his request.

I had ZERO complaints to address all week, but know from my sailing on the Pearl that the hotel director himself jumped on a problem we had with our aft balcony door. We met him at the M & G and he knew us for sure.

Our room steward on this sailing was hands down the best I've ever had on any sailing, any line we've used. MY family had an amazing week on the Escape!

Oh Yee's of Little Faith!

I am very much alive and very much "Life Happens", sometimes unexpectedly, a whole bunch. I came back to several emergencies at my property, with several key staff members having to take time off because of a very catchy severe illness so I jumped in doing the job of three people all at once, including my own. What with the huge end of summer events that are incredible money makers for us in addition to a new Corporate client that is in the International Air Defense Industry, we have been entertaining Heads of State from all over the world, trying to keep the ones that dislike each other (and their staff) away from each other is not easy.

Jerome has been on a grueling flying schedule, internationally, along with hosting several 9/11 events in Florida (United Flight 93 Cee Cee Lyles) as well as in Boston (United Flight 175, Boston Logan International Airport Ceremony) plus in conferences in D.C. and in Orlando.

Unexpectedly Life Happens.

I will say that one important fact on our dual Norwegian Escape sailings is that the first one was the best cruise of our life, on so many levels. The second one, well, given it was the first sailing with new Officers, that will eventually take over the ship come early 2017, the crew was not as sharp, nor in sync with each other, in my opinion, because the expectations could be different and the style of the new Officers had not been coalesced yet.

For some the cruise was wonderful, for us, menz a menz. It was a cruise and we were ecstatic to be on one. The events that happened to us, some not relevant to Norwegian, were so unusual, so crazy, that the passenger mix was the reason. Perhaps it was a cruise that was so undersold and given away on discount sites, that it was just a comical caricature of all walks of life. Unfortunately the ill-mannered out numbered us folks with tact and life's lessons filled with manners and respect.

I have been wrestling with the comparison review because in some ways, the differences were so stark that Jerome and I both wondered if we were on the same ship just weeks prior. What took place on the second sailing was a plethora of weirdness every day, both with passengers, crew missteps, and just outright dangerous behavior of unruly, drunk and disorderly events that boggled our minds.

Jerome and I could have been seriously injured by a crazy drunk lady hurling plates at us, as we ducked right in the nick of time as they crashed against the wall behind us, during a perfectly wonderful final night dinner at Teppanaki. I was mauled by "Jimmy" (Nearly thrown over the central atrium balcony in the casino) on the first night of the cruise as I was trying to protect the virtues of one of our solo traveling young lady Cruise Critic Roll Call members who was very imbibed and was seconds from being sexually assaulted. What saved me from going over the railing is that I told him I was not interested in the young lady because I am gay and then he indicated he would allow me to perform "favors" to him for $500. This allowed the young woman to escape and hurriedly return to her cabin. Pahleese.

This same boy went on to trash the ship every night, by harassing young ladies with his "Posse" in tow, breaking the glass door in the smoking lounge, jumping off the 17th floor ledge into the pool on the 16th floor, doing drugs, and being caught doing a variety of drugs and smoking in his cabin....so Security confined him to quarters and he escaped by climbing to another cabin via the balcony and exited unnoticed. Nightmare.

There is more, not so funny, and believe me, I have tried to compose something uniquely funny and hilarious about these crazies, but I end up tossing it. These folks were outright Looneytoons.

There is lots more. However, for those naysayers who may think that it is relatively easy to sit and compose a story, albeit, for free I might add, I do this because it is fun, not an obligation. It takes hours to compose a single chapter. I am thankful for the following, I always have been. But I still have other responsibilities to attend to, which pay the rent. So please give me a little leeway.

I am processing several changes to already composed chapters and will be posting them forthright, as soon as is humanly and humanely possible to do. Life is returning to a somewhat semblance of order so I can return to entertaining my many loyal and trusted followers. It gives me great pleasure to do so.

I realize that the new crew, which is the permanent replacement crew for the Norwegian Escape in 2017, will eventually get their barrings and leave their marks on service, consistency and quality. I can not fault the crew for the majority of our experiences. Some, very much so, yes. Most, though, are not at all the fault of the cruise line. This cruise was a Perfect Storm of if it's going to happen to "Trouble", it will happen to me. Trust me, it did.

That being said, we are sailing on the Norwegian Escape in March, 2017, once more, to finally gauge how the crew has adapted to these new Officers who will guide her through to the next chapter.

Here's to Jovo, Kevanc, Dominic, Melroy, Anthony, Rogeliza, Elizabeth, Diana, Darren, Pamela, Jose, St Clare, Leonora, Moises, Tyler, and so many more!

Here is a quick snapshot of the Officers on the Norwegian Escape:
