Majesty questions that are all over the place

Recommended Posts

Let me begin by saying I usually cruise with 2 different cruise lines. We recently cruised on the Grandeur, and I was disappointed. I think it was because it was different than what I am used to. We ended up spending so much time in the casino, that we ended up with rather large dollars off a next cruise. We really had no plans to use them, but found out there was a cruise on the Majesty that we could get for free, prior to another cruise we had paid for. (We paid gratuities & port fees only).

That being said, we are going to give RC another go. We are now prepared for the differences, so I have a few questions about the Majesty.

1- Are the burgers at Johnny Rockets cooked there, or are they the nasty burgers they have at the Windjammer?

2- Is the smoking area outside the Windjammer? We found that to be very pleasant on the Grandeur. Met a lot of nice folks there.

3- Ice cream @ Lattitudes?

4- And finally, we will be on the ship on Halloween. Do the smaller ships do anything special worth me thinking of a costume?

Thanks

JR has different burgers....it's a chain restaurant, you know...and they use the same kind of meat that they do on land.

Can't help with the other questions...don't smoke, have never paid for ice cream on a ship (they have REAL ice cream in the dining room nightly!) and have never brought special clothes for any "theme" or activity!

That said...the Sovereign class ships were my first...and we enjoyed it!!

The Johnny Rockets burger are there burgers, not from the WJ; however if you want anything other than medium, medium/well or well done -- you will be unhappy.....they won't serve them with the slightest bit of red. The only thing I will get from JR is their chocolate shake....it is worth the calories.

The smoking area is on the port side of the pool deck.

I don't remember any free ice cream offered at Lattitudes....but you can order ice cream as dessert in the MDR and it will be free.

We have been on the ship 12 times, but never over Halloween.

Hope this helps. We have always loved Her Majesty. Sorry you were disappointed in Grandeur, we have never sailed on her.

Just an FYI that the Inside and standard OV cabins on the Majesty are so small that you will need to step outside to change your mind. It may be worth a paid upgrade to a deck 9 OV.

That being said, the Majesty is a good ship with a great crew. I am looking forward to my October cruise. DD and I had a fun night at Johnny Rockets on on last cruise together and there is for sale ice cream on the tween deck.

I would think it would be fun to bring some sort of costume. Bet you won't be the only ones.

There is free soft-serve ice cream on the pool deck from around noon to 6pm.

I am not sure what it is....to me it isn't as creamy or dense as a soft serve ice cream is....more like a soft serve frozen yogurt.....never the less, I have it often when on board.

Followed up by ice cream in the MDR each nite at dinner with my chocolate chip cookies (also requested by me).

I must agree with you Vicki, the Superior OV cabins on deck 9 are well worth the extra money...they are a bit bigger and it is just nicer that way, at least to me. We have often stayed there, after being on other decks.

Speaking to your Halloween question - there was a really great Halloween party last year on Enchantment of the Seas. It seemed like everyone was in costume... I would recommend a Halloween cruise to anyone. Since the same CD is on board Majesty now, I bet something similar will be planned. (Though, he's only doing it part time so he might not be the one organizing it)

Regarding Halloween, we have been on three cruises that happened to occur on Halloween. Every one of them had a great Halloween party and most people dressed up. It was a lot of fun. The best party was on Majesty. That was when it was still in Miami and I think a lot of it had to do with the cruise director (Mitch). They went through a lot of effort to decorate the ship and it was the best Halloween party I've ever been to.

You cruised the Grandeur and had some disappointment. It will be different than any other ship due to it's Class (If you sailed other class Royal Ships) and the Crew...

Spent to much time in the casino (not Royal's or Grandeur's Fault).. BUT, then you won or earned enough points/money to pay for a cruise on the Majesty..

I just wonder what your disappointment was.

OH, I've had burgers, onion ring and chocolate malts at Johnny Rockets on every cruise that I've been on with a Johnny Rockets. Their burgers, IMHO, are pretty good, I like mine med rare at home but realize ships have to cook their ground beef a bit more...

Can't address your other questions...

I am sailing the Majesty in August and again in October. Sailed the Monarch a number of times until it retired.

We have been on Majesty a few times over Halloween and we saw a number of people dressed up. We did not go to any kind of party but saw people all over the ship dressed up. So guessing they will do something.

I will also say, having been on Majesty 30 times, the staff is one of the best in the fleet. Super friendly, helpful and nice. For an older ship, she is a great weekend getaway. We normally did Deck 8 OV's but loved it when the price dropped enough to move to a Deck 9 for the extra room and a fridge.

Have fun!
