ive never had water shoes unless you count flip flops..would they be comfortable/suitable for all day walking around the shop etc as well?

Yes, I wear flip flops all the time, in every port as well as on the ship. The only reason I ever wear anything else is to go for a run (running shoes) or to dress for dinner (high heels). I wouldn't wear them in the actual ocean though, they catch the drag in the water and will fall off and you'll have to clench them with your toes constantly; you'll likely lose at least one and have to dive to retrieve it, or will end up just taking them off and leaving them onshore.

Water shoes that stay attached to your feet for in the water, flip flops all day for the rest.

PMOW are very common in Australia where they are known locally as a Bluebottle (refer to http://australianmuseum.net.au/bluebottle). Their sting can be extremely painful, on many AUSTRALIAN beaches in the tropics emergency bottles of white vinegar are available to flush the sting site and to assist the removal of any remaining stinger fragments. As a kid growing up in Australia you soon learnt (often the hard way) to give these animals a wide berth as the trailing stings could be up to 3m long from the 'bottle' or float. I was a slow learner!!!

You also have the box jellyfish to worry about in Australia. OUCH.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Hurricanes will wash jellies and Portuguese men O war toward shore. Men O War ride the currents. Be careful.

A hurricane over Bermuda will likely wash them away from the Bermuda beaches. It would be a hurricane away from Bermuda that would wash them toward Bermuda.
