2paradise Posted September 27, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Hi All~ We are booked on the Vista for Oct 2017. Thinking about changing the date to Vista in May 2017. My PVP says there is a $50 change fee pp for changing the dates. Is that right? And is it ever waived????? Bah Humbug! I don't like that rule. PS I got travel insurance through Carnival. Does that matter? Thanks!! Edited September 27, 2016 by 2paradise

Does that matter? Thanks!! Are you booked under an Early Saver fare? If you are, yup - that's correct - $50pp for booking changes. Waivers have been made but the circumstances are usually unique or provided to top-tier (frequent) cruisers. Don't like the rule? You should have known about it (i.e. read the terms of the promotion) before you accepted it. Insurance is irrelevant unless you have a cancel for any reason policy and even then you have to understand what is (and isn't) covered.
poobears Posted September 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 27, 2016 Anytime you book ES you have change fees, it's the way it's always been. I've lost $150 when I cancelled with ES. I sucked it and paid it, it's part of booking with that rate.
oceanv Posted September 27, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2016 we changed an es booking (ship and date) and they charged us the 50pp but only for two of us, not for the 6 year old on same booking so not sure what that was about
Micahs Grandad Posted September 27, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 27, 2016 ES is great when you are sure of the ship and date not so good when you want to make changes
Freckle53 Posted September 27, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 27, 2016 We changed from the Victory to the Triumph for the same week, over a year away still and paid the $50 pp penalty. I knew that it would happen though and sucked it up.
2paradise Posted September 27, 2016 Author #7 Share Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Bummer! Live and learn, huh? Yes we did book under ES. I just called to ask. My two kids in the cabin though are minors. Maybe I will luck out and wont be charged the change fee for them. That would be a nice surprise! :) I have never had to cancel or change a cruise before. Now I know going forward. Thanks everyone!!! Love this board. Edited September 27, 2016 by 2paradise
skewsus Posted September 28, 2016 #8 Share Posted September 28, 2016 He or she needs a supervisor's authorization but I have had it waived before and I switched ships and dates for two cabins. Time to see how good your PVP is!!!
poobears Posted September 28, 2016 #9 Share Posted September 28, 2016 Both of my kids were minors and I was charged the fee, never even tried to argue it. Why would I, I agreed to it when I booked.
Lyncoya Posted September 28, 2016 #10 Share Posted September 28, 2016 I booked early saver and my original room mate changed her mind. I'm taking my daughter instead and as a courtesy to me, they didn't charge me a change fee. :D
