Yay!! From Port Canaveral's official page:

PORT CANAVERAL COMPLETES DAMAGE ASSESSMENTS AND PREPARED FOR REOPENING TOMORROW AFTERNOON PORT CANAVERAL, FL—October 7, 2016 –

Hurricane Matthew brought high winds and rain overnight, but left behind minimal damage at Port Canaveral, paving the way to resume full operations tomorrow afternoon pending U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port approval.

"We are fortunate that our cruise terminals, cargo piers, and infrastructure are intact and ready to support our customers as soon as we have the green light tomorrow from the U.S. Coast Guard," said Port Canaveral CEO John Murray.

Carnival, Disney, and Royal Caribbean cruise ships are expected to return tomorrow afternoon.

Port assessment teams spent the entire day surveying facilities and ensuring there were no obstacles to reopening the harbor and landside operations. Florida Gov. Rick Scott was in the area during part of the day for a firsthand look at the storm's impact.

Initial assessments show Port Canaveral harbor is navigable with no obstructions. Cargo piers remain intact with minimal damage to cruise terminals. Some Port tenants experienced some damage to their properties.

To assist our community with recovery from Hurricane Matthew, the Canaveral Port Authority is providing 80-100,000 square feet of space in the new Port Canaveral Logistics Center in Titusville to the American Red Cross to store relief supplies to help those who need assistance in the aftermath of the storm.

That is excellent news! Glad things are pretty well under control.

My clients could not get there since their flight was cancelled. No other flights open on SW to switch to in time to get to the port. We rebooked them on a ship out of Galveston. I hope with them having the insurance Carnival will end up refunding them for this cruise. They are not in any shape to have driven there either.

The victory Casino boat is sailing out of the port so that must be a good sign.

I finally got the webcam to broadcast, the casino boat is docked. I just talked to a friend who has a friend on a Carnival ship that's waiting for the okay to come in. Not sure which ship. I don't know if it's in, the camera isn't scanning. This is second hand information to me, so don't hold me to it.

Carnival Magic, Carnival Valor, and Disney Dream are all at the pilot station waiting to come in. Port is not open yet. We are packed, and ready to jump in the car to get on the Valor....and glad we live 30 minutes away!!

Port Authority is waiting for Coast Guard approval to open, and hopeful it will be by this afternoon.

Absolutely ridiculous that Carnival is not offering a refund to passengers who were flying into Orlando but had their flight canceled and are not able to get a flight into Orlando today. Royal Caribbean and Disney both had cruises leaving Port Canaveral today. Royal Caribbean canceled it days ago and gave a full refund and Disney postponed it a day to Sunday and offered a full refund for those who want to cancel. Carnival on the other hand expects people to fly/drive during a hurricane.

Check in begins at 3:30 for the Valor!!:D

MarineTraffic's AIS site showing the "Magic" coming in now at 10 knots, just outside the channel with a pilot boat as escort in between, the "Valor" is close behind - they're both doing donuts further out earlier, that's great - meaning that USCG has finished inspecting the port and deemed it safe for passage & use, etc.

It will take a little longer to disembark, etc. and get provisions loaded while you folks begin checking in ... will be checking back for probably a beautiful sunset embarkation & sailaway.

Happy to know that loss of lives were minimal in FL, property destruction and damages can be repaired and fixed, now just praying for those further north in the Carolina as the worst is yet to come with high tides & storm surges; and, power outages still feared.

Boy Voyage.

I think Carnival should delay departure a day but allow boarding and use as an overnight floating hotel with full cruise activities - but it does not have to.

But Carnival is not off base entirely. There will be many who can make it and expect the ship to sail as agreed. And for those whoc can't make it, well - they could have and should have purchased insurance.

We have always chosen not to buy, and self insure. Going forward, I will purchase if we ever book in hurricane season ...

People for Royal and Disney need to fly too. Doubt if they refund airfare. I'm taking this post as not completely accurate.

Insane. Carnival just gets brain freeze as soon as a problem crops up. They should've let you cancel without penalty, yesterday, or the day before.

Why? There are several ports that they can use in a dire emergency and they can also shorten and extend a cruise as needed. I always purchase insurance and I would be really upset if they did something like this. That is what insurance is for!!

You don't get it, then you don't have the right to complain. This is hurricane season, I don't understand why people ignore that fact.

For the record I was directly affected by this storm, our house suffered minimal damage and this is the 1st time in 40 hours we have had power.

We're in Melbourne too, no damage at all, and our power came on yesterday around noon, but a lot of our neighbors still don't have it. I can still hear generators running. Glad you're okay.
