Wheatie59 Posted October 6, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Would appear that by Saturday morning the storm will be well to the north of Miami. I'd guess that you will sail as scheduled.
lizzyplague Posted October 6, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 6, 2016 The worst of it should be around Port Canaveral by 2PM Friday afternoon. FLL is confirmed closed Thursday AM starting at 10:30 AM and will resume asap after the storm passes. MIA hasn't officially closed (via their website) but most likely will if conditions deteriorate like they are saying. That being said, Miami doesn't appear to have a direct impact at this time, not as much as the Daytona Beach area will. However, since Port Canaveral/Orlando is a 3 hour drive from FLL/MIA, it's possible (IMO) that they will be able to run most of the afternoon flights at the very least come Friday. cntrydncr1 Posted October 6, 2016 #8 Share Posted October 6, 2016 If I were you I would fly into Tampa and hang out there till you get official word. if this is as bad as they think it could be the port could be closed for days due to not having electricity. people are crazy to think that as soon as this passes all will go back to normal. JaniceB Posted October 6, 2016 #10 Share Posted October 6, 2016 Can the airports operate without power? I understand that the power may be out for some time in some places.

I would expect the airports have emergency backup generators. Roy

ryano Posted October 6, 2016 #13 Share Posted October 6, 2016 I have a friend going on this cruise. He flew into Miami yesterday just to make sure he made it. Of course, he just retired and can do that. A lot of people wont have that option.
