Uber and LaGuardia airport

Will be arriving at LGA on a Monday at 3 pm, and was wondering about using Uber for pick-up. There will be 4 of us, and 6 pieces of luggage. Have also considered Carmellimo. Normally not too concerned, but worried about the construction congestion that I hear is just awful.

Just a follow-up to the original thread:

We did use Uber, and had no trouble at all at LaGuardia airport. They seem to have gotten organized despite all the visible construction.

Hello,

Reading your response on using "uber to La Guardia". Could you tell me how long is the trip from Cape Liberty to La Guardia and how much the total cost? Approximate.

Thank you so kindly.

It really depends on the day and time. At the present time, google maps says 1 hour 10 minutes (20 miles), but it's only the beginning of rush hour.

That poster didn't go from Cape Liberty to LGA, They were traveling from LGA to some location they didn't specify.

If you have the Uber app on your phone you can get an estimate of what it would cost at this moment to go from Cape Liberty to LGA, but Uber prices change continually based on demand so the estimate you get now won't necessarily be what you would have to pay when you travel. If you don't have the Uber app you can get an estimate using your computer on Uber's website.

Yes, the construction at LGA is a mess .... yet many travelers still use this airport for departures and arrivals. OP will be arriving at 3pm. If there is no checked baggage they can quickly make it to ground transport. But if they have to wait for baggage this has them traveling at the start of the rush hour .... not the best.

The original post about arriving at 3 pm was made in October, 2016. The OP came back on Jan. 2, 2017 and reported they didn't have any problems, so that was done an settled months ago. Someone reopened the thread last night asking the OP about something that really wasn't the OP's trip.

... Could you tell me how long is the trip from Cape Liberty to La Guardia and how much the total cost? Approximate ...

It depends and is highly variable - based on day of the week and pickup at CL, excluding wait time for Uber to show up.

Weekday's mid/late morning, you are in the middle of commuter traffic into & thru NYC, tunnel and bridges are often slow, if not jammed in near gridlock conditions - especially if weather is an issue ... and the best/preferred route taken (midday road constructions & lane closures are other unknown elements)

Weekend, traffic is lighter and usually better - fewer vehicles on the roads & highways, but - road constructions & lane closures, sometimes major detours, are possible.

I would allow for a minimum of 90+ minutes to 2 hours, 2.5 hours to 3 hours for the transfer & dropoff - constructions at LGA will continue to 2020. Terminal B (central terminal, many referred to it as the "main" terminal ... used by JetBlue, American, United, Air Canada & their regional/commuter flights) is most prone to congestion at the arrival & departure level. Terminal C and D (and, Marine Air T.) used mostly by Delta and its alliance/partners are a little better - the bottleneck is largely confined within the airport's interior service roadways. The "horror" stories mostly resulted from a major road incidents and/or weather, flash flooded exit & entrance ramps.

Until further notice, Uber/Lyft and other FHV (For Hired Vehicles ... including car services) pickup location at LGA is at a nearby remote/designated parking lot, served by the free Green Shuttle route, a 5 minutes ride. Dropoff are permitted in front of the terminal's departure & arrival area ... no waiting allowed, tow trucks are on standby & patrolling at all hours.

Google Maps/Navigation ... which used real-time data obtained from/via Waze, will give a more accurate & fairly precise ETA or trip time, input the details online or use the Apps to plan ahead ... NYC's DOT (traffic management) are sharing their direct feeds with Waze as a partnership effort to help ease congestions by alerting drivers to use alternate routes as needed.

TSA or airport security/recommended check-in time are not added, please factor those into any & all travel plans & flight bookings accordingly.

If flights haven't been booked yet at LGA, please do seriously consider using EWR, it's a lot easier with fewer hassles and known when disembarking at CL.
