Prepay Service Charge still showing at $12 per day???

Doing my online check in (can NOT find anywhere to select arrival time) but there is a box to prepay service charge.

 

"The convenience of pre-paying service charges allows you to plan your budget prior to your cruise giving you additional freedom while on board. A discretionary charge of $12.00 USD per person per day for all guests 3 years or older will automatically be added to your onboard account. Your service charges will total $168.00 USD for all guests, for your entire cruise. "

 

I thought it was $13.50 now?

Yes original booking was before it was raised, but thought it had to be pre-paid a while ago, or at least before final payment to get the rate grandfathered. There's actually nothing I can find on ANY of my documents saying $13.50 will be charged onboard.

If you pre-pay the charge will be the "locked-in" rate; if you wait till you are on board it will be the "going" rate.

 

Not saying you are wrong, but I can't find it anywhere.

A year ago some said I'd be denied boarding for having critical things to say:D

 

I just want to see the official policy in writing first before I decide if I want to prepay or not. May not be worth prepaying with so much OBC.

Yeah, about $20 give or take.

 

Again, I'd just like to see it in writing. I am sure someone here can find it in writing. I haven't been able to is all. I'm only asking to see where it says it.

When the DSC was raised, there was one email that said that it had to be prepaid by a certain date, but everything else said that it just had to be prepaid before boarding. There was lots of discussion about it on here, but the only thing that ever mentioned having to prepay by a certain date, from memory, was that email and everyone's experience showed that email to be wrong.

 

Prepay before boarding to get the old rate, or pay the increased rate onboard.

I would go ahead and pre-pay. That way the computer simply shows you a pre-paid and the DSC onboard is not charged.

 

I just did this a couple of weeks ago on my last cruise. The computer locks everything into when you booked UBP, UDP, OBC etc.

 

BTW you are not allowed to use OBC to pay the DSC.

At what point in the booking process can the prepaid charges be added?

They can be added at anytime up to 24 hours prior to sailing.

 

How much are the service charges:

• $13.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Studio, Inside, Oceanview, Balcony and Mini-Suite categories

• $15.50 USD per person per day for guests staying in Suite and The Haven categories

• Guests sailing to Hawaii will be charged an additional 4.275% Pre Paid Service Charge GET Tax

 

 

(This will be automatically added to your onboard account)

I had the same issue where it showed up on myncl.com as $12.00. pp for a total of $216.00 for 9 day cruise. I immediately paid the charges and printed my receipt, which I will certainly bring with me when I board the ship. Hopefully there will be no issue. Pre- paid gratuity is showing up when I pull up myncl.

It depends on where the OBC came from.

 

For a US booking, if the OBC comes from NCL Master Card World Points redemption does it cover the service charge or not?

 

We have $275 OBC and other than planning to try Food Republic, and purchase tickets for the St. Thomas Skyride (about $40 for 2) I don't really have anything else to spend the OBC on.

 

If I can't use the OBC for the service charge can I cash out the OBC in the casino?
