Toodang Posted October 25, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2016 I'm just wondering about booking a connecting stateroom next to people that we don't know. Are the walls and connecting door really that thin? Sent from my iPad using Forums
cb at sea Posted October 25, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2016 The walls are no thinner than any other cabin! The door is locked unless the 2 parties are traveling together! Same as in hotels with connecting rooms! If you book it, and find you can hear noise from the other cabin, roll up a towel and stuff it under the door...works wonders! Clarea Posted October 25, 2016 #4 Share Posted October 25, 2016 I'm just wondering about booking a connecting stateroom next to people that we don't know. Are the walls and connecting door really that thin? If the guests next door are quiet, then the connecting door won't make any difference. However, if the guests next door are not quiet, then the connecting door will transmit more noise than if there was no connecting door. In other words, I'd avoid the connecting stateroom if possible. steveru621 Posted October 26, 2016 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2016 Bob, as always has it right. Avoid them if you can. Why take a chance?

Sent from my iPad using Forums We had connecting staterooms on purpose and with the doors just cracked we barely heard our children. Heard more noise from the outside hallway traffic then them jumping and screaming. I wouldn't worry about it.
Rare JamesEM Posted October 26, 2016 #11 Share Posted October 26, 2016 We had a connecting cabin ONCE, complained to the room Stewart about the noise and he placed a blanket between the doors witched helped. But, the other problem was the cabin came with a chair instead of a sofa.
papaflamingo Posted October 26, 2016 #12 Share Posted October 26, 2016 I've had connecting staterooms more than once with no problem. Having said that, we avoid them when possible. As Bob said, like a hotel, you can get some noise if the neighbors are noisy. But for us, you lose some shelf space. Not really noticeable unless you look at another cabin, but there is some loss there often. So, why chance it? If not needed, avoid it. But I wouldn't hesitate if it's the best location for you. It's not that big a deal.
