catl331 Posted December 7, 2016 #2 Share Posted December 7, 2016 (edited) You might have noise from the galley above, and slamming of the door out to the promenade. We've never been on the Rotterdam, but had a cabin below the galley on the sister ship Amsterdam. They rolled cannon balls around above us all night! Never again! :( Edited December 7, 2016 by catl331
FrankieSue Posted December 7, 2016 Author #3 Share Posted December 7, 2016 Thank you very much for sharing. We may have to look at changing the cabin.
SilvertoGold Posted December 7, 2016 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2016 Not the greatest cabin for the reasons stated above. At least this cabin doesn't get the vibration from the stacks, but personnaly I would try for something better on this deck, more midship or aft of the aft stairs starboard, for example. FrankieSue Posted December 8, 2016 Author #5 Share Posted December 8, 2016 I appreciate your insight but is there someone who has something positive to say about the cabin?
VennDiagram Posted December 8, 2016 #6 Share Posted December 8, 2016 I'm with the other posters. Not a great location. If you are hearing "good and bad", what is the good you are hearing?
Loreto Posted December 8, 2016 #7 Share Posted December 8, 2016 We had this exact location (a guarantee)on the Ryndam on our first HAL cruise. I would strongly urge you to choose another location! Door slamming, elevator bell dinging, people congregating, and unbelievable early morning noise from the galley directly above. We often choose a stateroom under the MDR and have been happy. I think you looked at 3362. 3392 is under the galley.

FrankieSue Posted December 9, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Thanks everyone.. Any suggestion for a replacement cabin in the same H category?
jtl513 Posted December 9, 2016 #12 Share Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) Thanks everyone.. Any suggestion for a replacement cabin in the same H category? The ones under the MDR should be okay: 3404, 3411, 3422, 3426, 3427, 3435. Carpeting muffles footsteps when they are serving dinner, and after 10:30 or so there isn't much activity there. The stairs you see on the deck plan outside the latter four are emergency escapes from the MDR, and not a source of noise. But they do block the view. I would choose 3404 or 3411 if either is available. Edited December 9, 2016 by jtl513

FrankieSue Posted December 9, 2016 Author #15 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Thanks everybody for your very useful input. I was able to move our cabin assignment to H3317. I chose this particular cabin because of view and proximity to door to promenade deck... We are all set.
SilvertoGold Posted December 9, 2016 #16 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Very convenient to the Lower Prom deck. We've been in the vicinity and really found it well placed. Hope you have a super cruise on a gracious ship!

iflyrc5 Posted December 9, 2016 #18 Share Posted December 9, 2016 Anyone has any thoughts about that cabin. I hear good and bad We are booked in that cabin on the Rotterdam from Feb 12 - Mar 16 so can tell you more when we return. We had a cabin in the same location but on the Starboard side several years ago and it was fine.
