Rare h20skibum Posted January 31, 2017 Author #78 Share Posted January 31, 2017 There will not be many photos of Coco Cay, since we elected to stay on the ship today. The beach chairs await the arrival of those going ashore. Morning sun reflects off the lifeboats. Rare h20skibum Posted January 31, 2017 Author #79 Share Posted January 31, 2017 We enjoyed a relaxing morning at the pool. There were quite a few people that stayed on the ship today, instead of going to Coco Cay. After lunch at the pool grill, we checked the menu for tonight dinner before going to the Rooftop terrace to see the movie "Sully" Just like the sunrise, we had a beautiful sunset after the movie. Rare h20skibum Posted February 1, 2017 Author #81 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Had to take a break in the report last night to go to the Pens/ Preds game. Warmups. So back to the end of Coco Cay day. Since we didn't like anything on the MDR menu for the night, we tried the Oceanview Cafe for supper. Was not impressed with many of their offerings tonight either. We met our table mates at the Rendezvous bar and played the Majority Rules game. I thought we did good with 7 out of 10, but not good enough to win. We found these waiting when we returned to the cabin. They gave us an 8:20 departure time since we did not turn in our San Juan departure info.[emoji35] Next up - Nassau Sent from my iPad using Forums
weregoingcruising Posted February 1, 2017 #82 Share Posted February 1, 2017 Thanks for the review! We are sailing on Summit in March and your review is getting me so excited to sail! Do you know if the luggage valet is back on Summit? We just left the Equinox Monday and there wasn't any luggage valet. Will be on Summit Feb. 18 and hope maybe then they will have it. Rare h20skibum Posted February 2, 2017 Author #83 Share Posted February 2, 2017 So yesterday was the first day on the cruise with less than 10 miles. But today, we are in Nassau. There will be five other ships in port with us today. Since we had $400 in OBC to spend, we decided to do the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter. With a premium drink package, internet, and gratuities paid, we needed to find some use for it. We had to meet at 9:30 on the pier. The Summit at dock. The Silhouette is docked next to us. The Nassau port area. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #84 Share Posted February 3, 2017 The boat to take us to Blue Lagoon was tied up by the yellow tower. It would be about a 30 minute ride to get there. We pass by Atlantis on the way. As well as some nice water toys. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #85 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Several famous people's waterfront homes were along the way. Can anyone pick out Oprah's house from the above? Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #86 Share Posted February 3, 2017 More homes. And I thought "Jack Reacher" wasn't in to having a place to call home. Maybe the guy who has been playing him in the movies has a slightly different lifestyle. His is one of the homes above. Know which one? Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #87 Share Posted February 3, 2017 After passing a lighthouse, And Gilligan's Island, We arrive at Blue Lagoon. Someone is happy to see us. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #88 Share Posted February 3, 2017 The ships tour was $159 each, but it looks like you can get it from Blue Lagoon for less. This is the map of the area, and their price list. There are more things to do there. The beach area was not busy early, but it filled up when the 1:00 boat got there. PostcardJar Posted February 3, 2017 #89 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Thanks for your review, I'm really enjoying reading it! We were on the Summit this year for the Christmas cruise, so this is like a little stroll down memory lane. FWIW, we will be on the Anthem this summer...our first RCI cruise--all our cruises have been on X.
Rare h20skibum Posted February 3, 2017 Author #90 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Thanks for your review, I'm really enjoying reading it! We were on the Summit this year for the Christmas cruise, so this is like a little stroll down memory lane. FWIW, we will be on the Anthem this summer...our first RCI cruise--all our cruises have been on X. Actually, the Anthem is on our to do list. We were going to book it after we finish our Hawaii cruise in April/May, but we have a free Royal cruise to use, and can't use it on the Anthem. I want to book it just to do the sky diving simulator. DaniDanielle Posted February 3, 2017 #91 Share Posted February 3, 2017 Anthem is great! You will love skydiving. It is only one minute but feels like a lot longer! We have been on Anthem four times, love how close we are to the port. We booked the Summit for July for a change of pace. We were on Summit five years ago so cannot wait to see the changes. Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #93 Share Posted February 5, 2017 The encounter takes place in the covered area in the photo below. Everyone comes down on the floating docks, and they are taken in small groups down on a platform that is waist deep. They first take couples, or singles down for a photo of the dolphin kissing them. When the groups go down, everyone gets to pet, hug, feed, and dance with the dolphin. No cameras are permitted in the area, but they will take photos to sell to you. One photo was $16, and you could get four for $39. Of course, they had full packages, including video for much more. The area outside was used for the dolphin swim encounter. And they also fed and had the dolphins perform. Finally, the dolphins wave goodby. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #94 Share Posted February 5, 2017 There is an inflatable play area along the beach. We had the 10:00 excursion for the dolphin encounter. They told us that the boat to return would be at 1:00 and 2:00 for our excursion. However, the 1:00 boat got there late and didn't depart until almost 2:00. Just something to think about if you plan to book independent, and are looking at afternoon times. We passed more large homes on the way back. And a few more water toys. They made a stop at Margaritaville on the way back to drop off non-cruise ship passengers. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #95 Share Posted February 5, 2017 So as we cross under the bridge, the five ships in port come into view We are docked between the Silhouette and the Escape. The Escape somewhat dwarfs the other ships in port. They were setting up to do some filming on the bow of the Escape. We made our way up to the Oceanview Cafe for a late lunch. Unfortunately, I encountered a piece of shell in the Asian seafood dish. That, of course, was the end of my lunch as I opted to stay with a drink or three. Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #96 Share Posted February 5, 2017 This may be a good place for the Dailys. Sorry if the others were tough to read, but I just pulled them up on a computer screen yesterday, since I have been doing all this on the CC app from my iPad. I will try these at the "best" photo upload. And the map for Nassau. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #97 Share Posted February 5, 2017 After checking out the evening menu, we decided we would spend the last night at the MDR. Sent from my iPad using Forums
Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #98 Share Posted February 5, 2017 Since we still had some OBC to use, we thought we would check our balance before going shopping. Maybe everyone else was doing the same thing. It was a little different message than the ones we were getting earlier in the cruise. So checking the account on the tv was not always reliable. Rare h20skibum Posted February 5, 2017 Author #99 Share Posted February 5, 2017 We figured we had spent some for the shore excursion, and a t-shirt to support the world wildlife fund, so we still had about 67 to spend. Not much in the shops that we wanted, so we found something we could definitely use.[emoji16] Sent from my iPad using Forums
